I'm completely setting impartiality aside, I absolutely loved this. Some music you like, some you love and some if you encounter it at the right moment in you life helps to define the person you are. The Beastie Boys through their music, style and personalities will always be one of those groups to me. I went to this tour so it brought back great memories but also tinged with incredible sadness at the loss of MCA, he is sadly missed. The film itself is a concert film but with the twist of giving out handheld cameras to audience members and backstage, it works brilliantly and helps to convey what the Beasties were all about, love for New York, Hip-Hop, each other and their fans. One of a kind...oh and Mix Master Mike is as always incredible.

A very novel way to make a live concert film: hand video cameras to 50 audience members and get them to shoot it for you! Result is variable though, despite some good editing. Some great shots and some mediocre. Still, a very different, and less sterile, approach. Music is good, of course. Great performance by the Beastie Boys.

Concert movies are always for the fan boys, so how was I not going to love this! Interesting direction for the genre in handing out 50 video cameras to the audience and back-stage personnel; to get their take on this Madison Square Garden gig. Its all then mashed up to tell the tale of the 90 minute NY concert, and expertly captures both the exuberance and music of the Beasties. This 2004 experiment also points the way to today's sharing of smartphone video clips (of concerts) you find dotted around on YouTube. The finale when they rush around and appear at different parts of the venue, sharing their final tune with the fans sums up the love people feel for this band. And obviously this is directed by MCA, sadly missed.

An epic way to live a Beastie Boys concert, now that there'd be no more...

The extended scene where one of the fans went to go pee in the middle of the show was quite unnerving

Cool idea +cool songs (duh) + cool editing = cool movie. Btw, the title is supposed to be Awesome I Fuckin' Shot that!, not Awesome: I...Shot That!, the word 'Fuckin' means a lot, you know.

A must for fans. Next best thing to being there :)

It's more admirable as a filmmaking experiment than anything, but this multi-perspective document of a Beastie Boys concert has plenty of raw energy and an intimate atmosphere to boot, to the extent that one of the fans hilariously films himself going to the toilet.
