Bang Bang

This Bollywood remake of the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz romcom action caper Knight and Day is just as derivative and dumb as the original.

Hrithik is the film's eye candy and the prime shooter, all rolled into one, and gives you some amount of bang. The rest is burble.

Something is obviously strange in opting to buy the remake rights of a mediocre Hollywood film called Knight and Day. What's more bizarre is that you are able to fashion an even worse Hindi film out of it.

Hrithik Roshan is believable as a brilliant international jewel thief -- but a slack Katrina Kaif lends little to the proceedings.

It's all high-end flash, but less romantic than wearying.

Overall the teenage relationships aren't really delineated, a moralistic twist near the end appears out of nowhere, as does the sudden, unrealistic pairing-up of two of the main characters that gives the film the justification for its subtitle.

You name it and they are all there, larding up this film to the 160-minute mark.

No Shakespeare remake, this, but you'll get your money's worth.

Sometimes, it seems that the director has deliberately underestimated the audience's IQ.

The makers have clearly invested a great deal of effort in mindless pyrotechnics. All very well. If only they had devoted a fraction of that attention to the screenplay, this overlong film would have been infinitely less tedious.
