- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsBetter than most gangster/martial arts flick.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsA surprisingly solid action thriller, Clash is a Vietnamese (race pride) martial arts/crime thriller with an actual fleshed out characters and story. A ragtag group of five mercenaries are called together for a job. They must steal a briefcase from some French baddies. Trinh leads the group with the codename Phoenix, a tough and badass assassin who wants her daughter back from her boss. White Tiger is a tough supporter and potential love interest (played by Johnny Nguyen, briefly in Ong Bak and others), and the goofy OX, mischievous Snake, and loyal Black Dragon. Together, they must trust each other to get what they want. But when double crosses and unease are at hand, its bullets and fists that get results. The movie manages to have an interesting story to keep the action together. It has plenty of good martial arts fights spread throughout, with nothing too cheesy or except for one moment near the end. Near the end, a villain survives a motorcycle crash, but its so he can fight one of the protagonists. That is my only complaint. Keeping character development and story in check, it mixes those with fights and shootouts for a well made martial arts flick.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThe chases & shootouts may be substandard but the brutal martial arts fights are well choreographed and worth checking out in this Vietnamese action movie.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsPretty cheesy movie.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsClash's plot serves as a poor excuse for the violence onscreen but at least the violence is entertaining. And let's face it why else would you watch a martial arts flick. The action is well choreographed and very fast paced though it lacked in quantity. There are around 4 fight scenes, which to me is not enough to make up for the mediocre acting and the yawn inducing plot.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsClash is a pretty awesome Vietnamese action movie that mixes martial arts and gunplay for a fun ride. It's almost like a mix of the Transporter movies and The Departed, so if that sound interesting to you, check it out.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsClash is a simple low budget action movie with both good weapon scenes and fighting scenes, both martial arts action and takedowns. Also known as Bay Rong Dont know if the movie is Vietnamese or from Thailand but it is not Korean,Japanese, or from China. It is definitely entertaining and Johny Tri Nguyen and his Girlfriend whose name I cant remember is the lead once again if you have seen the Vietnamese movie the Rebel. It is some of the production company crew that brought you The Rebel and it has very little wire or barely for the action scenes.Better than some DTV releases from Van Damme,Steve Austin and Seagal definitely and probably half the budget of a DTV in America Johny Tri Nguyen is definitely making a name for himself and with past performances in The Protector,Rebel,Force of Five, and Cradle to the Grave.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsIt's a nice change to see a Vietnamese martial arts flick, and although the action was decent, the story really didn't work for me. But then again, martial art movies in generally don't exactly have awesome plot. Props to the skills used, but the main bad guy just seemed WAY too cocky to make it as far as he did in the crime syndicate. Clash was okay to see once, but I have no desire to watch it again.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI love the martial arts in this movie!
