Besharam

This is only [Abhinav] Kashyap's second film, and you can see he's already stopped trying for new.

The title translates as 'shameless': everyone involved should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

It's not always possible to get everything exactly right when making a movie. But it is possible to get at least one or two things right, and "Besharam" can barely meet that threshold.

"Besharam" is frequently crude, but it's also unusually clean in its plotting. And it has a kind of unblushing vitality that is especially strong in the dance numbers ...

This (...) is what makes Besharam dangerous – it strives to lull us into an acceptance of its medievalism.

Mrs Kapoor sums up the whole affair quite nicely. Enough, Ranbir, she seems to be saying. Especially since you're capable of so much more.

Unless you like the feeling of being hit on the head repeatedly with a hammer, avoid this one.
