BRILLIANT. A true masterpiece and like nothing you've ever seen. I am a fan of Williams but even a nondevotee would leave appreciating what an absolute marvel this film is, from the music, the epic dance numbers and the acting this biopic is a stunning exploration into the depths of self-loathing to redemption. Lovely.

Bizarre film about a British singer & songwriter I'd never heard of. Low self-esteem led to addiction & other poor choices in life. It took most of his adult life, but finally got it together.

Cinebiografia do cantor inglês Robbie Williams, da sua infância, passando pela boy band Take That, até a sua carreira solo de sucesso, além dos seus problemas com o álcool e drogas. Depois de outras cinebiografias como Bohemian Rhapsody e Back to Black, que tentam suavizar aspectos dos seus biografados ou de pessoas ao seu redor, ver filmes como Rocket Man e este Better Man é ter esperanças que este gênero de filme não seja apenas narrativas chapas brancas. E aqui Robbie Wiliams não esconde nada da sua vida e dos seus vícios, que quase levaram ao suicídio. Mas a principal deixa de como Robbie Williams se vê está na sua representação no filme. Desde a infância, Robbie é representado por um chipanzé antropomorfizado. E o que seria uma grande estranheza, é tão bem feito, que aceitamos e compramos essa ideia. E dessa forma temos um dos grandes filmes de 2024. O diretor Michael Gracey não consegue se livrar de todo dos clichês de uma história típica de um astro da música, porém esse tipo de história já se tornou clássica. O filme tem excelentes números musicais e o da canção Rock DJ enche os olhos em uma mistura de coreografias, flash mob e efeitos visuais. Como também de My Way, que cai um pouco no piegas, mas é difícil não se emocionar. Better Man pode não ser revolucionário, mas mostra outras formas de se contar um tipo de história já clássica, de uma maneira inventiva e criativa.
