Between the Temples
audience Reviews
, 42% Audience Score- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsOne of - if not THE MOST boring movie I have ever seen. 111 minutes of my life I will never get back and truly can’t think of a single redeeming feature.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI actually finally signed in to RT just to post a positive review and counteract in my small way the inexplicable number of pans among audience reviews. I think just about everyone will find this film entertaining, frequently funny and touching, and as a bonus gain a little insight into Jewish family customs. Carol Kane and Bob Zemeckis are particularly outstanding among an excellent cast. The style of the film is a little idiosyncratic, with a very 1970s film feel and a psychedelic sequence, so if the occasional artistic flourish bothers you, then maybe stay away. But everyone else should have a rewarding time.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsI expected to like it more than I did. I mainly had trouble enjoyed it due to the character played by Carol Kane, I found her insufferable. In retelling the plot line afterwards, I only then realized how similar it felt to a Woody Allen movie.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsA movie of great small moments and an impressive final scene
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsWe were totally onboard to like this film, but were left wanting more closure. The stars are certainly not at fault, but it was really hard to believe. It could be a great discussion starter about grief, family ties, religious perspective and more. But as far as comedy goes it was not that funny.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThe movie's overt weirdness is both amusing and grating (I get that's kind of the point but still) so it's a mixed bag even if I mostly liked it.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsI’m really surprised that others didn’t understand how this could be described as a comedy. I thought it was hilarious and beautifully written and acted. Sorry but I wouldn’t want to hang out with someone who couldn’t recognize the humor here. What else is there in life?
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThe actors in this are fantastic and fun to watch. Was so excited for a Carol Cane movie. It was listed as a comedy, which I noticed after the fact and was very confused by that. There were some kind of charming, silly moments, but nothing funny. Maybe all those moments I was uncomfortable I was supposed to laugh? Or maybe I need to be Jewish to get some inside references? I really liked some of the dynamics and some of the story but just was never sure what this was supposed to be. Pieces of the story moved along a little bit but all seemed to peter out. Overall just more uncomfortable than funny, and more emotional than charming. Just kind of a humanistic portrait that came out as a rough sketch.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIt took a moment to grab me....But I found it quite charming....I loved it...Bon mots were perfect...Want to see it again
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsThis is really supposed to be a comedy? It was pretty unbearable to watch and the climactic dinner scene was not entertaining, not interesting, but made me feel very uneasy and uncomfortable, which eventually led to a terrible ending the the film, more people should see the series "None of Us Wants This?" Which is overall superior and more entertaining.
