Birdboy: The Forgotten Children
audience Reviews
, 74% Audience Score- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsA very bleak movie with a beautiful art direction. I really loved this feeling of watching hand drawn animation with watercolors. The story is divided between Birdboy moving around and a group of friends trying to leave their miserable life. The friends' parts are by far the best with this three teenagers trying their best to fight against their life. The Birdboy's parts are not really interesting the character himself is not engaging and doesn't seem to have a story for himself (he would have been better as a secondary characters in the friend's story) Even if in the last minutes show some optimism for a better future, the moral of the story still sounds pretty pessimistic. There is some humor in there, but sometimes is a little too stupid (a talking inflatable duck, and a dog with big balls) and doesn't fit with the movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsthis movie is one of this underrated masterpices. Of course not everyone will love it, but people that care about our planet will probably find it interesting and good. the movie is filled with the problems of our world hidden as the 2nd bottom that despite the brief presentation of the characters you will make you care about fate of characters. i highly recommend watching it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis movie's very impressive. And I wish I could see it on Netflix, Tubi, Pluto TV or Crackle.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsdisturbing cartoon that didn't really seem to amount to anything and definitely not for kids
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThis movie had a huge impact in my life
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThe only drawback is the short runtime. The story, themes, simbolism, characters and animation feel unsettling but fresh and entertaining. I wish we would see more of this world.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThe last time I felt such optimism and admiration for animation and storytelling that you can never quite predict is when I watched Boy & the World (another brilliant movie).. Psiconautas/Birdboy was a lot darker than one would think given the animation and character designs. Tragic, breathtaking, haunting and delightful somehow all rolled into a pretty cover. One of the year's bests in terms of animation but you have to watch it willing to accept that a lot of things will be unusual. Highly recommended.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsGUAU (it's spanish for wow), how many themes a 75 minutes long animated feature can approach! In this horrifying and nihilistic coming of age you will enter a world (a post apocaliptic one) of drugs, solitude, poverty, craziness and, why not, even recycling. The animation is gorgeous too. I simply love the way everything is drawn. But don't worry, there is some hope in there too, saving me (with a bit of luck) from some future nightmares! Watch it!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsEnchanted by the plot of the film. The very picture pleases the eye. the best thing I've seen in the past two years.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsBeautiful animation. Very unique. But just a wee bit too surreal and bizarre for me.
