I've seen worst, really... a LOT worse... But after knowing it's based on a video game or role play game, or something like that, it doesn't come as a surprise... The only surprise is WHAT THE HELL is Cate Blanchett doing here? In that regard, I have to say: she's the only good thing. Even here, yes, her acting seems good enough.

Watching this movie was like watching paint dry, except you’re not watching paint dry, you’re watching the funny ha ha Fortnite game get ruined.

Cate Blanchett is super hot(literally, her cheekbones and whole person are perfection) in this, especially with wings and powers and a jacket melting off her, the cast is funny, but nippy to each other, and the plot is thin. CGI is good though. All you need to know.

This was a great movie, it was pretty funny and I think is a victim of the angry nerd video game purists or out of touch critics that berate anything that isn't Oscar worthy and are too uptight to enjoy a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. This movie is just fun to watch, and everyone delivered a good performance. If you can't have fun watching this movie, it is a "you" problem, because this was entertaining. Jack Black killed it as Claptrap. It's not a 1 to 1 adaptation of the game so don't watch it trying to compare it to the game, just accept it for what it is and you will see my point. I played the games too and didn't let it cloud my judgement. It is faithful to the games imo while being its own thing. Don't let the angry nerds that hate everything discourage you from watching this.

When you think of Eli Roth, you think pure gore. In fact, the special effects teams said that originally, the film was packed with gore—severed heads, dismembered bodies… But the producers didn’t like it, Roth left (though he’s still credited as director), and Tim ‘Deadpool’ Miller finished the movie to make it a more PG-13-friendly version for the studio. So obviously, it’s weird to see so little horror in a film credited to Roth. But in the end, for someone like me who doesn’t know the game it’s based on, it’s still a big fun movie, with action, humor, and a grand adventure. And maybe that’s all I wanted. As long as I remember it’s a Tim Miller movie and not an Eli Roth one, it works. You just have to loosen up a bit—if you don’t know the game, it’s not a bad movie at all.

Borderlands isn’t as much fun as it thinks it is. Perhaps the translation of the video game plot into a movie, whereas the characters simply aren’t that compelling, makes it hard to buy what this film aims to be selling. But it’s full of silly action, some interesting production design (if questionable continuity), and an A-list cast that keeps things on its toes. Eli Roth is a capable director with the material he’s been given, but the whole film is let down by a flimsy script. If you don’t mind cliches, then this film is fun once around the block.

Epic failure There are so many problems with this film it actually HURTS to watch!....It was clearly going for the Suicide Squad appeal but failed miserably. I don't blame any of the actors for their poor performances - this is clearly out of Eli Roth's depth as a director. The movie seemed a really bad first editor's cut. This movie could have been worth something if the decision-makers just got James Gunn, David Ayer and or/ Cathy Yan directly involved to either direct or at least write a better screenplay . Simple lesson here: Spend more on a quality director and screenplay before securing high-end casting.

A film so obviously written by AI it's painful and honest to God horror to watch. I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy to have to sit through this slob, I would rather have my eyes gouged out then have to watch this again. It was so bad. The only reason I was even watching it is because there was a problem with the Deadpool screening and I thought I should watch it while I was there I could not recommend it less
