Through unfortunate circumstances Rudy, played by Cheech Marin, a man born in East LA is swept up in an immigration raid and deported to Tijuana where with no ID and money has to figure out a way back home. Some fun and amusing scenes and a fun role featuring Daniel Stern. I hadn't watched this in many years. Still love the parody song based on Springsteen's Born in the USA.

Cheech is charming and funny as hell, as usual. But this is a bit of a slog to get through. I had warm memories of it from childhood, and honestly, I should've left it there. It pales in comparison to the movies with Chong. Most of it is pretty scattershot and loses its way too many times. It's decently fun though, if you're looking to kill time one afternoon.

Classic urban comedy. Love this movie.

Crude, yes. Racist, of course. But what you may not expect is how much heart Cheech Marin adds to the character and the film itself. Oh, and the film is absolutely hilarious! 3.5/5 stars

A Latino American is mistaken for an illegal immigrant and shipped off to Mexico where the comedy is he can't prove he's American. This comedy drags especially when our lead attempts his way back into the United states. It's filled with cliches and stereotypes at times but it does have it's moments.

Went off the rails somewhat in the last third.

This does have a few worth while moments, but it just has horrible pacing overall. Cheech does well, but I missed the presence of Tommy Chong next to him. Has a bit of heart to it, but also has some flat moments too.

Not as funny as I expected, but it does have its moments. What I did find surprising is how much effort went into making Cheech's character not a stereotype. But believe me there are plenty of those in this film, but it's done in a different way than you would expect. Surprisingly human, but the script can get episodic and rather predictable. It's worth a rental.
