Hangs on by a thread. Weak and trading off the previous Bridget Jones films .

Not as good as the first movie but Renee is outstanding once again as Bridget Jones. The two male leads were very good but the story was a little watered down for me. They played it safe with a predictable ending but the comedy was a hit!! Tim Treakle

anny Flutters February #6: After EIGHT WEEKS, Bridgit leaves a man cause he doesn't want to marry her yet, I'm sorry sis I cannot defend you this time. The delusions and self sabotage are too high. I don't understand the meeting fake-out, why was Rebecca laying on cushions on the floor of a business meeting ?! This sequel is quite a quality drop off from the original, the tension and narrative feels incredibly forced and I really did not care for Bridget & Daniel's storyline, I'm glad she didn't commit to him. I am NOT happy with the writers pretending Sally Phillips is straight, she's literally a lesbian with Shirley Henderson, who to be honest is mildly terrifying. The fact for Bridget to realise she had been an absolute wanker for dumping Darcy over the fact he folds his underwear was for her to be in PRISON and hear about actual bad boyfriends is insane. Rebecca being a lesbian, y'know what, sure, why the hell not. The ending of this movie being Bridget in a rush to get Darcy back is a little tired, as that's what happened in the first movie. I also don't love the proposal and that we didn't see much of Bridget & Darcy's actual romance. We are told they are in love but don't really see them in love. I feel like we had an entire movie of no real progress, for any of the characters or the overarching narrative. This could have been an email. Grant and Firth are still permitted to run a train on me however. Horny Rating: 5/10

A fun sequel, but not as good as the first one. The story is just kinda the same as the original. I had a good time.

The amount of money they should have spended for the rights of the music they put on every 30 seconds. I was not expecting to laugh with this one, but I did, this is not going down, it levels with the first one.

The film has its share of laughs, but it can’t quite recapture the emotional depth of the original. And Bridget? They’ve taken her character in reverse gear.

'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason' is a totally pointless sequel. There isn't really anything substantial that happens in this, it basically goes in one big circle before finishing how it started; aside from one minute-long detail. Admittedly, it does manage to avoid being bad. Renée Zellweger remains a plus, as do Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. With that said, this film adds nothing new to their characters, they are just replicas of themselves from the 2001 original. The film (as before) does have a charm to it, which saves it from a lower rating... too generous?

**Review: Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason** Rewatching *Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason* brought back a flood of memories—mostly of my sisters binge-watching these films growing up. The first one is undeniably the best, but this sequel still holds its own. Sure, it leans a bit more into melodrama, but it’s packed with that signature awkward humor that made Bridget iconic. Renée Zellweger is as charming as ever, bumbling through bad decisions and cringe-worthy moments. The prison sequence? A bizarre yet oddly heartwarming highlight. And, of course, the hilariously scrappy fight between Mark and Daniel in the fountain—it’s the kind of absurdity that makes this series so lovable. The cast remains top-tier (Hugh Grant’s smarm is unparalleled), and while the story wobbles here and there, it keeps you smiling. It’s not as tight as the original, but it’s still a thoroughly enjoyable sequel that had me rooting for Bridget all over again.

Much worse than the first. Forced, unfunny.
