, 34% Audience Score- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsWOW. Ok, the performances were some of the best I've ever seen- not unlike Aronofsky's The Master. But, also like that, it was easily one of the most inane, nonsensical, s- shows I've ever watched. Justy the absurdity of the premise and that 2 'normal/sane' people would so quickly devolve into what they did- laughable as F. I have schizophrenia, I have for about 10 years now. I totally see the great scripting of what occured but there isn't a way to make a sane person become as crazy as you are. There just isn't. She would've told him to kick rocks as soon as he busted out with the 'invisible bug' poppycock. I AM going to keep the movie in my collection, not b/c I thought it was good, but as a reminder that you can't just make a movie anyway you want and not have some kind of Logic structure to it.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsVery disappointing! I was expecting a lot more from the film. Michael Shannon was great but the characters were annoying. Not as horrific as I would want it to be, but also wasn’t as deep as I would want it to be.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThe best and most realistic D.A.R.E. campaign ever made.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsStarts out slow but gets intense Michael Shannon and Ashley Judds acting just blew me away actually made me nervous towards the end kind of comical but in a sad way mental illness isn't funny but Michael Shannon absolutely kills it. And then some. 👍
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsGreat performance from both Michael Shannon & Ashley Judd but the story plot somehow has been 'bugged'.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThis film was about how mental illness can be infectious. At least in the sense that fear & loneliness can lead to illogical thoughts & actions. Or who knows, maybe it was all a government plot.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsStumbled upon this movie while channel surfing. Definitely a twilight zone sort of feel about it. Sad part is how many parallels to delusions and psychotic Q'anon narratives there were to what we see in the real world today.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsTerrible movie. Not scary and it might be one of the worst movies I ever seen.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsThese actors should be embarrassed to be in such a lame movie. Ashley Judd does play a good crackpot though.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsI certainly appreciate what this movie accomplishes, as it's ultimately bulls-eye's its objective... it's just a movie I really hope not to watch again, as watching it once was already one of the most (admittedly intentionally) unpleasant movie-viewing experiences I have ever had. Now, I'm not quite sure if the movie quite have had a simple fix, as adding things to try to add levity might have completely deflated this movie's very-specific atmosphere, but there's simply not enough story here for a feature length movie; maybe enough to keep a 60 minute movie full, but in all honesty, I think this movie would've worked better as a 30-40 minute Short film. This would have allowed the movie's paranoia and dread to move at a better clip, but also prevent the biggest problem: exhausting the audience. I was ready to tap-out by the hour-mark and only really stuck around to see if the "Why?" aspect would be answered. It's worth seeing maybe as a film novelty, but expect yourself to be completely drained well before the movie finally ends.
