Efeitos relevantes. Nota: 6
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThis crime disaster movie was great. Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Hana Toyoshima, Jun Kaname, Onoe Matsuya, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie. The plot of the movie was dramatic, intense, and insane. It's about a psychotic teenager planting bombs on the fastest train in the world for ransom. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsWhat sounds initially like a Japanese Speed crossed with an Irwin Allen disaster movie remade in the age of social media turns out in fact to be a reboot/kinda sequel to a 1975 Japanese movie with the same Japanese name (but simply called Bullet Train in English) that certainly predated Speed. In director Shinji Higuchi's proficiently executed Netflix movie, bombs planted on a bullet train heading to Tokyo are set to go off if it goes below 100km/h and it's up to the cool, calm and competent staff, both on board and in the control room, to save the day. (This film is clearly made with the cooperation and blessing from Japanese Rail.) An old-fashioned, often over-earnest and preposterous mainstream thriller where the train becomes a microcosm of Japanese society and honorable people will no doubt turn out fine, storylines involving a recently disgraced politician, a tech-bro and a publicly vilified figure are contrived up to find drama and fill up time in between set pieces where the train has to either avoid crashing into some unmoveable obstacle or mount a daring rescue mission, mainly to cull the enormous cast onboard to focus on the remaining core of passengers who's somehow left behind. Anyone who has seen last year's BBC series Nightsleeper will find the narrative beats here coincidentally familiar but I can assure you that show didn't then pivot into some solution that resembles an A-level Maths question, or the philosophical trolley problem. Whilst I do like the way this film connects with the 1975 film, it's certainly far-fetched, especially for a non-Japanese audience, and one's enjoyment of (and suspension of disbelief for) this film will depend very much on your appreciation/overlooking the film's more seemingly idiosyncratic elements that are unequivocally Japanese in its nature.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsIt was well-executed but lacked the depth of its predecessor: "Bullet Train". Maybe too, it was that it reminded me of how woeful the state of rapid-transit in the US is.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThis film features relatable characters as well as several actors whose performances are excellent. Although the story is simple, the teamwork is truly impressive. It also creates intense tension throughout. However, the villain’s motivation is weak, and some characters are not properly introduced.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsPlaying with the minds and using a teenager to execute such bombing… unique, but really? Teenagers? I think exploiting them like that doesn’t sound so convincing especially the narration was done almost at the end.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis movie is awful and far worse than the original. Passenger reactions are more over the top. The reason for the bombing was stupid...I'm mad at my father so I'm going to blow up a train. Why blow up a train when you blew up your tormentor? Just dumb.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsTruly astonishing, couldn't have asked for a better movie. It's super exciting and one that you'll not wanna miss. The storyline is beautiful and outstanding fantastic. Everything about this film deserves a five star and more!!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsCould have been a much better film if it had been shorter & more realistic. The CEO asking each passenger if a plan is ok is an example of the plot being downright silly at times.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsBullet Train Explosion (2025) is an interesting ride that tries to bring back the disaster-thriller vibe but falls a little short on the human side of things. The directing by Shinji Higuchi feels like it cares more about showing the technical process of running a train than about telling a story through its characters. You can tell a lot of work went into the production itself, especially with the practical effects, model sets, and tight editing that really keep the tension high. The problem is, while everything looks good and feels intense, the characters end up feeling like background noise rather than the heart of the movie. It feels more like you are watching a really well-made simulation than being pulled into a story. The acting is decent, especially from Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, who manages to bring some presence even without a lot of material to work with. The script, though, feels a bit thin, like it was written just enough to move from one tense scene to another without really digging into who these people are. The cinematography is clean and sharp, with some really impressive shots during the action sequences, and the sound design does a solid job of keeping you in that high-stakes atmosphere. The score is there but not very memorable, mostly serving the moment without standing out. Overall, it is a movie you can enjoy for the tension and visuals, but if you are hoping to get attached to the characters or dive deep into the story, it might leave you wanting more.
