Carter High
audience Reviews
, 62% Audience Score- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThis movie was cast with some very prominent actors who did not fail to deliver. Only issue was it was hard to truly believe it was 1988. Some clothes and style was too modern. But thankfully that didn't take too much from the movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsCarter High is a fabulous movie not so much about football but about boys growing up and the choices they make that affect their lives; some went to prison, while others went on to successful careers, although after being released from prison the robbers went on to become productive American citizens. This is the story also of the coach who worked hard to help his players make the right choices. Excellent players, a tough coach with a strong sense of ethics experiencing and dealing with moral dilemmas in school, parents who want what's best for their kids, and school authorities dealing with a big controversy. This is their story. Everyone should watch this movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI definitely enjoyed Carter High from beginning to end. The movie successfully chronicles the rise and fall of the 1988 Carter Cowboys, a Dallas, Texas high school football team who shakes the city once a string of local robberies traces back to some of the team members. While it can be challenging to adapt real life stories, I can appreciate the authenticity and the fact that the screenwriter and director stayed true to the story, opposed to implementing unnecessary embellishments that would have detracted from the essence of the storyline. I hope teens and athletes take away the powerful message in this movie. Poor choices have consequences, and at the end of the day, one bad mistake or choice could cost you everything--including your life!
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsI really think that, given the budget, this story would have been a pretty good project. I still liked it. I didn't know about this story, but I think it is worth being told. I really wish that this would have been given more of a priority by the studio. Even with the cheap quality, I was still engaged the entire time.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsAlthough the story has a powerful message, the characters are too dully written to intrigue anyone who wants more than a generic true story flick.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsI was introduced through to the Carter High story through ESPN 30 for 30. The story was heartbreaking and the film was able to show that in a short amount of time. Charles Dutton was amazing as usual, and the use of the actual footage was a great addition. Look forward to seeing more work from the writer/director!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsUnfocused, and the acting is so poor, I had trouble finishing it. D+
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsShould be seen by every high school athlete. Wow! All about choices and consequences.
