Charlie's Angels

In 2019, Charlie's Angels is less about impossibly perfect women saving the world and more about women joining forces to save the world. It's the direct opposite of the lens used by the men of the film...

But this is a rare multiplex movie that rewards patience, with the action and the goofiness ramping up in the second hour.

I's hard to feel too grumpy when everyone involved looks like they're having so much fun... But Elizabeth Banks demonstrates a shaky grasp of pacing, which frequently makes [it] feel draggier than it should.

[Charlie's Angels] tries earnestly to bring these ladies into the 21st century. And it might have worked, if the film didn't so consistently pull its punches.

I really, really enjoyed it.

But while this girl-power action flick happily bashes you over the head with its feminist credentials, elsewhere it keeps missing the mark.

With very little star push and a script that made it seem C-Grade Charlie’s Angels seems like it was doomed before it even left the studio floor. Ladies and gentlemen I think we just found this year’s Golden Razzie winner.

If there’s one thing Banks wants audiences to take with them after seeing Charlie’s Angels, it’s that a hardworking woman alone is already badass. But a group of women working together is a force of nature.

Charlie’s Angels is a genuinely entertaining, nearly flawless movie that draws you in from the jump, takes you on a wild ride, and then sends you off with a smile on your face.

Charlie's Angels is passably entertaining fare that sticks to its basics and never tries to be smarter than its premise.
