, 99% Audience Score- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsComplementary to "Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition 2023", that tell us about some of the works exhibit in 2023, when the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam displayed 28 Vermeer paintings in the largest exhibition ever by this famous Dutch painter of the 17th century. During his lifetime, he was a moderately successful provincial genre painter, recognized in Delft and The Hague. He produced relatively few paintings, primarily earning his living as an art dealer. He was not wealthy at his death, leaving his wife in debt when he died at 43yo (due to the stress after the 1672, a severe economic downturn caused by three invasion of Dutch territories) father of 8 girls and 3 boys with a 44yo wife - he and Rembrand are probably nowadays the names of that era that we remember the most on duct painting. His works were only rediscovered around the 19th century that had an essay saying that he had 66 paintings, but we knows only 34 of them (and three more contested - that are discussed here). This documentary by BBC instead takes a more technical side, telling about the hunt and trades to get the masterpieces to the exhibition and more about the scientifical and technical side of Veer Meer works, with maybe camera obscure and his use of pigments. You also see more of the humane side of people involved in the exhibition, being better than the first documentary I mentioned. A solid 8.3 out of 10.0 / A- I would say. Watch it if you admire the works of this dutch great master so much admired in his city in his days, but unknown by the rest of the world (his major patron where of the city of Delft).
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAdmittedly, as a student of the History of Art, I came to this documentary already enamored of Vermeer. When George Weber described fainting when he first saw a Vermeer, I could relate! I could also commiserate as the curators debated attribution of some works. Vermeer is such a unique artist and so little is known of his life, his training, that he holds a very special place in the history of art. So disappointed I couldn't get tickets to the show!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars这是一部关于为古代艺术家回复名花的纪录片,里面讲述了他这么做的一些心得以及感想。
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsAs someone who has never heard of Vermeer prior to watching this, it felt a bit like attending a 500 level lecture for which you never attended prior learning. I enjoyed the intensity of subject matter passion from the participants. Ultimately, an art show exhibition can only be so exciting for those who don't revel in the subject matter.

- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsEnchanting. In a void of digital and AI nonsense, a world where bananas with a daub of paint are considered "art" and where Great Masters are now extinct, this is a breath of fresh air.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsVery interesting investigation of the artist Vermeer. The sheer dedication of the many art historians/scientist/curators & other intellectuals displayed in this movie was impressive. More of this sort of artistic intellectualism would be greatly appreciated by those of us interested in art and support local museums with memberships and frequent museum galleries. The public would benefit from this sort of artistic sleuthing and education. Terrific movie showing the scholarship of the art world. Bravo
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsthis is really bad... i'm sorry there's just no value in watching this i mean there's no comedythere's no action there's nothing interesting at play here.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIf you like Vermeer, you will love this documentary which has been made with beautiful cinematography. Getting a chance to see some of the Vermeers in close up is a treat and the director and editor were skillful in building a compelling narrative,
