Uma comédinha bobinha, porém bem engraçadinha, um pouco do lugar comum, apesar das piadinhas batidas e comuns, com história sobre faculdade e festas, bla bla bla, mas um entretenimento razoável…

Silly, slapstick, messy comedy, with a thread of romance to it. A teeny rom-com. Good fun, mind

The premise had such potential, particularly with a talented cast, but ultimately the film is not greater than the sum of its parts. Applegate, through no fault of her own, plays a character that the writers cant seem to determine if she is the villain or victim. A wife and business woman, feeling neglected by her husband and believing she is being cheated on, has a fling with a twenty something loser. That loser, Domhnall Gleeson, is written in a way to make him so strange, it is hard to feel the sympathy it seems we are meant to. Rather than being content with his one night stand, he attempts to extort Applegate by threatening to tell her husband when she doesn't instantly fall madly in love with him. The plan backfires for all involved when Applegate tells her husband and said husband decides to move in with Gleeson to bother his wife. He ends up mentoring Gleeson with women, but ultimately the teacher becomes the student, learning to appreciate his wife again. While this is a cute concept, the execution falls apart.

Disappointing. I was interested to see something recent with Christina Applegate, and she's good here, but Stensland was such an off putting dweeb of a character, I just couldn't warm to this story. And my dvd was faulty and jamming up all through the movie. That didn't help either! But mostly just a cringeably bad movie with unbelievable characters.

A husband finds out his wife has been cheating on him with a younger man. The husband discovers where the younger man lives and provides an opportunity to get back at his wife by living with the scorned younger man. Domhnall Gleeson, Thomas Haden Church, and Christina Applegate provide the comedic chops for this surface level look at the effects of an affair on a marriage. Writing for this movie relies on shallow misconceptions of how women think and what men care about. Dialogue is very broad and paints each gender as stereotypes. Thomas is written as a misogynist obsessed with his job and believes everything was fine with his marriage. There are times when his character goes on rants about women and the reason for their decisions. On the other side, Christina is peppered by her friend with remarks about men and their obsession with sex. Gradually, the writing in the movie shifts toward a more realistic revelation about the differences between the males and females. In addition, women are written as strong and independent people who do not have to be in relationships. Also, the women in this movie are shown as smart and able to hold their own with each punchline. Thomas as the husband and Domhnall as the jilted lover lift up the bland writing in this movie. Punchlines would not find their marks without their efforts. Thomas delivers with a sarcastic tone and Domhnall is likeable in his clumsiness. Frankly, Domhnall should do more comedies because he plays well off of others and has good timing with the jokes. I would be interested to see what he could do with proper writing. Thomas is underrated for his deadpan delivery and ability to make you laugh with his commitment. Christina is funny but underused as the wife in this film. Most of the plot centers around the husband's desire to see his wife squirm where her husband and ex-lover live together. I like this concept although it would be implausible in most scenarios. This is not a movie to watch to uncover real revelations about modern romance. More of the message focuses on how relationships can change with time and the importance of keeping a romance fresh and exciting. It examines why love is considered an action and not just a concept. Still, this is again on the surface level. There are worse ways to spend an afternoon and it was fun to watch a movie not take itself too seriously. This is not a laugh out loud kind of flick but it will make you chuckle once you suspend some disbelief when the husband moves in with his wife's ex-lover. Writing needed polishing to make the dialogue snappier. A film relying heavily on dialogue should have showcased better jokes. Largely, this is a surface level comedic look at a crumbling marriage brought on by laziness in romance. I enjoyed how the tone shifted from run by the numbers generalization of the differences between sexes to a reflection on their own character flaws. It became less of accepting why things do not work out and more of what the characters could change to make relationships work. Domhnall was the biggest surprise to me showing he has the ability to take on comedy if he chooses to do so. Thomas also demands to be in more pictures after his showing here and he is largely worth the run time. These caricatures are still worth rooting for and all you can ask of a screwball comedy to avoid trying to be something else entirely. Sure, this movie will be largely forgotten but thankfully it just remains what it is intended to be allowing me to relax and turn off my mind.
