Such an underrated movie, perfect Hideo Nakata ambientation style, beautiful story and deep like water. The problem... the ending as awlays. Hideo Nakata really had a problem when making endings as he always tried to make them espectacular and always forgot how to make good ending to his story. If the ending was like the one in the book, it would have been PERFECT. Really... I do not know why Hideo Nakata loves doing bad endings like he hated his characters. I love him and hate him so much at the same time, lol.

Wow I was not expecting that. I like endings kind of similar to Titanic where it’s a sad story but love prevails at the end even in the darkest times.

One of my favourite horror movies ever. The atmosphere kept me on the edge of my seat and it doesn't need jumpscares to make it scary. Very solid perfomances actorwise and so much better than the American remake.

Creepy yet sad film proves that less scares are better than a lot

This movie accomplished what rings couldn't, exploring the mother daughter bond.

A slow moving horror film that is amply creepy and eerie. This film is no slasher... it is much more somber. Drawing on its horror through the sadness felt by both the plot and environment the film is created in. I was fully engaged throughout but this film is not for everyone, those that do not like slow moving films should stay away from this movie.

I found this a creepy and psychological horror from Japan. It wasn't especially original compared to Ring (1998) but it was a fittingly scary. It didn't make me jump but I was grabbing hold of anything tightly so that I wouldn't feel so scared. There was one amazingly scary moment. I found the end part of it pretty confusing although I can excuse that because of all the fear and tense atmosphere that was built up with the sole purpose of giving the viewer some paranoid scary thoughts. Scary and enjoyable.
