A top critic said it best...it's heavily cliched story. I didn't care script much and the fight scenes were film school project quality. The movie was bouyed by Pitts, but Pearlman and Pesci were under utilized, unfortunately. It could've been better if the story was a bit more compelling. 2 stars all the way.

It's and absolutely beautiful movie. Very poignant, and heartfelt. Michael Pitt carries this movie with such an authentic and relatable performance. Sincere and heartbreaking. It was well written and so well executed. Now I understand why Jack Huston fought so much for Michael Pitt to be in this movie. I do have to say that this is not a movie for people who like jump cuts and and fast editing. If you have no patience to watch and beautiful artful movie I don't recommend it, which explains the 3/5 stars of the critics. They see too many movies and perhaps lack patience to really enjoy such a movie. Congratulation to the amazing team who created this movie. This will stand the test of time.

Wow amazing movie. Human, simple story, done very very well. Music 10:10 Cinematography 9:10 Writing 7:10 Heart 10:10 Anyone that ever lived a full life (not a life scrolling Instagram or Facebook) anyone over the age of 30/35 (2025) will understand this movie. Great flick well worth your time. I’m 42 and I’ve experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in my life (not the best or the worst …. But enough). And I was moved by this movie. The only problem is you have seen this before i this is why I didn’t give it a 10/10. It’s a 8-9/10. Depending on who you are watching it. If you ever had to fight for something in your life, or you lost even when you tried your best…. Or you cocked up and then grew from it you will understand this film. Well worth a watch if you like human movies that have a lot of heart. 9/10 for me will watch again.

A life lesson for many. Beautifully presented and constructed. Michael Pitt should be nominated for an Oscar. I was tired and ready for sleep but decided to watch and frankly this movie rid me of my tiredness and awoke many deep feelings. Wonderful Wonderful film. Its a crime that so many new movies are aimed at trivia without true meaning or thought. A great debut for the Director.

Great movie complete with great actors. Nice to watch a movie that reminds you why movies are made. A nostalgic trip down memory lane of what brought us to a theater.

Imperfect but beautifully shot. Some very memorable scenes and performances. The boxing scenes left something to be desired but the film stayed with me emotionally.
