Great movie complete with great actors. Nice to watch a movie that reminds you why movies are made. A nostalgic trip down memory lane of what brought us to a theater.

One of the best movies of the year, brilliant performances from the cast. Michael Pitt blew me away. Beautifully written and directed, highly recommend.

Imperfect but beautifully shot. Some very memorable scenes and performances. The boxing scenes left something to be desired but the film stayed with me emotionally.

This film is so beautiful, heartbreaking and also uplifting. I’m telling everyone I know to see it.

A magnificent first film by Jack Huston about a great fighter about to participate in a championship fight after 10 years in prison. The film follows his fight day as he fixes his relationships of his past knowing the fight could be fatal. An extraordinary cast with Michael Pitt, Ron Perlman, Joe Pesci, Buscemi and others. Not to be missed. Pitt is brilliant. Geoff Maingart

I REALLY liked the movie! I’m not a “proper film critic” with any understanding of “nuances”- But I know when I like a movie… -when it can make me totally absorbed, forgetting what situation I just came from, or what time it is or what I need to attend to afterwards… -when it moves me to tears (more than once!), and it’s hard to explain, but especially when it’s not done in a "theatrically manipulative" way, but in a much deeper way (that scene with “Mike” and his father in the “rest home”, oh my😢)… -when it makes me think about what’s important in life (among other things for “Day of the Fight” reminded me of forgiveness, how important relationships are, and also caring for those who are the “underdog”, to name a few things)… -when I wake up the next morning and I’m thinking and contemplating about what I saw… “Film” is very powerful. It can “move” us in tremendous ways…I highly respect so many of those in that industry… This film definitely “moved” me!

Wow, just wow from start to finish this film had my attention. A real tear jerker, and I must say Joe Pesci’s scene really moved me. Everyone came to play and they delivered!!

Pesci. No bells and whistles. No screaming. He delivers a reductive master of a performance. This is beyond minimalistic. All he can do is move his eyes and breathe and he delivers. Best supporting Oscar nomination in the works. This was also written and directed by Jack Houston, his first film he has directed and written. What the f…… There are many moments that are heartbreaking and surprisingly so. Great supporting cast and almost Cassavettes’s like performances. Fly on the wall style. Realistic, gritty and a lot of heart. There’s a ton of other thjngs to mention but this review is getting long. In general, a strong f😎ck yes for this movie!
