Demon House
audience Reviews
, 59% Audience Score- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis documentary is so bad it does not deserve the half star i gave it. Zack is all drama and i was really hoping he could pull through a decent documentary on a really interesting story, yet in true Zack fashion, he makes it all about himself. I can't take these guys seriously. PLUS if it is true, i feel like there's some exploitation going on on a minor. Apparently in real life, she tries to kill herself, and they say the demons from the house made her do it. They even have a small ritual with her to try to get rid of the demons. That part, real or not, it felt wrong.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 stars"Demon House," directed by Zak Bagans, falls short in its attempt to deliver a compelling exploration of the paranormal. Relying on his usual dramatics and antics, Bagans's sensationalism dilutes the authenticity of the documentary, leaving viewers skeptical rather than captivated. The film lacks depth, resorting to cheap dialogue, assumptions, and exaggerated dramatizations instead of providing genuine insight into the Gary, Indiana haunted house phenomenon. Overall, "Demon House" feels more like a theatrical stunt than a serious investigation.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsCheesy and corny. Probably could make children go to church.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsI was super scary. And I was afraid to watch it at first because It said that I could get a demon attached to me.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars300 years of modern civilization and this is what it leads to. Technically a step up from the Salem Witch Trials but only because nobody was hanged. My point is this: The concept of demon haunting is the exact opposite of science. If you notice, it's always hearsay, it's typically second-hand stories and creative descriptions of something that supposedly happened supposedly witnessed and they try to sure up the stories by suggesting that since someone is clergy or a doctor then it has to be true. While simultaneously noting that there is never any video evidence. It's hype, it's modern day myth, it's the manifestation of fear and hysteria, same as it's always been. And you'll also notice that whether it's the Amityville Horror, the Enfield Haunting, etc, they're always revealed to be a hoax at the end with someone making money off of it. The only truly frightening part is this story is that Netflix paid $65 MILLION for the rights to this story. People are crazy. Seriously. As soon as the media picked up the story, the homeowner had an agent and wouldn't even speak to people in order to maintain exclusive rights they could sell. And just because a myth picks up traction and becomes known doesn't make it true. Quite the contrary…the more people discuss it, the more "horrifying" the stories get and the more people who come forward for the attention. This story generated a $65 million dollar payday for someone and THAT is what this is about, much like most other things created these days…follow the path as far as it goes and you won't find a demon…you'll find a giant pile of money and a bunch of easily led people who have an easier time believing in ancient horror stories than basic science. I would say that this is the Idiocracy in action but it's more like exaggerate late-stage capitalism where the most unholy part is the cash grab. And sadly, you can't really separate the story from this documentary. The documentary itself is neither good nor bad, it's just a vehicle to perpetuate a bunch of staged garbage in my opinion. And let's be clear: exorcisms are modern day torture, one step up from drilling a hole in the head in order to treat a schizophrenic the way they used to.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI love horror, I go to sleep at night to the Shining. This movie I would not attempt it. It got me
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsOverall it keeps you interested throughout but never shows any real evidence of demonic activity. I went in to this with my high expectations based on the previous documented experiences. Left feeling like a 5 minute youtube video could have given the same results.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsStupid bull. Proved nothing. Full of bad acting and unbelievable crap. Interviews were obviously scripted. And the cases of demon possession were hilarious.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsThis movie is doodoo.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI loved this! Not only was it scary, it told a story. A lot of people might think this is fake or made up- but this is real. The pure fear of Zak's face- everyone getting effected. I loved this movie but you can just tell this will always leave a scar. We should all be thankful they are still alive to even make this film. Thanks!
