Devilreaux

- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsIf you haven't watched it then don't waste your time.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsWhat a disappointment. With a great looking Boogeyman and the great Tony Todd, I hoped for much better. The acting was atrocious. The editing seemed almost skipped entirely. The dialogue was terrible. A knock off Candyman with Tony Todd.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsWatching this was like watching the horror version of a lifetime movie. Insulting to history, Haitians, and everyone in general. The ending made it so much worse as it was extremely unsatisfying.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsEven for a B movie, this was pretty bad. I understand people work on a budget but watching clips on how to deal with crime scenes and victims in a hospital is free on youtube. I didn't recognise Tony Todd due to the lackluster preformance he put on but I guess he was working with what he had. I will however say I did enjoy the costume and make up for Devilreaux
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsI read some of the critic reviews before I saw this film and they seem to be looking for an Oscar winning performance in the horror genre! We all know that's not what this film is about. This is one of the best horror movies I've seen this year! I say that because it looks like it was made without the budget of all the big Hollywood films out there and it felt genuinely real and not fake. I loved the parts where the teens play the game and stuff starts getting real! I was scared when I saw the ghost shadow in the stairway. The flash back parts were good but I wish I saw more Tony Todd in the movie. Maybe have Devilreaux go back in time and actually save him in the next one. I would have liked to have seen Devilreaux talk in the film too but maybe that they had him not speak to add to the mystery. Overall, it was a great experience watching this film on VOD. I heard it was in some theaters but not in my area.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsIt was supposed to be set in New Orleans. Someone didn't do their research! For starters we are parish's not county's. Second we don't have basements. The film was all over the place! Didn't make no since at all!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis film has a lot of potential. There were some editing issues and some scenes were slow, but all in all it was a good film. Actors played their roles well. You simply never know what you're going to get with a horror film and with Devilreaux, the acting had a great balance and delivery. It would have been interesting to see how the movie would develop if they stayed in the 1800's/early 1900's. Then for the sequel, bring it to modern times. All in all, this storyline was creative and original in its own way. Everyone says it's like Candyman. I don't see the resemblance except the fact that Tony Todd is in it. All the talk clouded my mind and opinion about the film before I watched it, so I made sure to watch it on a clean slate. I'm looking forward to seeing how all the other characters died. Again the film has a lot of potential and am looking forward to seeing what they will do with Devilreaux in the future.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI loved the movie. It was so magical when the tree spirit saved the mother and her baby in a three witch MacBeth scenario played by one actress. The images of Devilreaux, (Vincent M Ward) were just beautiful as he was walking through the fog. I loved that the movie didn't have to rely on gratuitous gore or jump scares to tell the story. I can't wait to see more from Director/writer Thomas Churchill. I just wish this movie had more advertising before it was released so more people would know about it.
