The score, the cinematographer and the acting was incredible. My eyes did not leave the screen, but because it was half of the story it left me waiting for the next movie. It noticeably felt cut in half (which it was).

Since Star Wars is now reduced to being the punching bag for the internet, Dune is the perfect replacement for sci-fi fantasy especially for the adult crowd. This movie has made me pick up the novels...

A usually great director, Villeneuve cut the heart out of Dune. My guess is those that liked the movie hadn’t read the book. The story changes really didn’t advance the plot. Similarly some of the casting choices were weird. Gurney Halleck is supposed to be the ugliest man in the empire and I just don’t buy Chalamet as a Dukes son. He and Zendaya seem to be have selected mostly for eye appeal in this movie. Taking an epic and captivating novel and turning it into a plodding snooze fest it quite the feat. One of the greatest SciFi novels of all time deserved a more faithful approach. Hopefully part 2 is better but it is hard to generate any enthusiasm to watch it.
