Could not feel that chemical/electrical (whatever it is) connection between the characters, and could not feel the dramatic effect that should be transmitted during the construction of the tower.

This is a good movie to see if you are into the times (1860 to 1886) and nicely done interiors and costumes. The actors do a great job and by the time we get to the controlling jealousy of one character, it feels just mundane. There was a lot to say about the feat of engineering, and the people who helped make the tower that didn't get said. The first scene, in which you hear twanging metal and wind as Eiffel does serious work in his office has a lovely reveal of him coming out of the office onto a balcony of the Eiffel tour, and that's amazing. Historical fiction that makes up personal intrigues is part of this movie, so if that will get you down, you should be prepared.

A pleasant way to pass away several hours of a 13 hour long haul fight.

Too bad that the filmmaker chose to focus on Gustave Eiffel's totally uninteresting sex and love life instead of focusing on the pitfalls that led to the financing and construction of the tower. How many more potentially interesting films will be ruined by a pointless love story?

Entertaining but somewhat disappointing and clearly vastly embellished with romance rather than showing us what Gustav Eiffel (by all accounts a phenomenal engineer) actually did. I really would have liked to see more about the actual building of the Eiffel Tower, scenery of Paris and other 'inventions' (like the wonderful proto-motorcar that Adrienne and Antoine ride off in near the beginning, or the other designs submitted at the trade expo). It just sort of lacked a little something and some of it was really far-fetched (like - no spoilers but it's to do with the shape of the tower) but it was a relaxing and entertaining 2 hours nonetheless! If you like 'historical romance' that has very little historical accuracy, you'll enjoy it.

The film was so dark, couldn't see the people or clothing . Loved the story, chemistry between the couple sizzling! Time frame was too rushed
