Great movie. Stunning cinematography. Great juxtaposition of sorrow and hope. Touched on the Caribbean, particularly Haitian presence in slavery. Never knew the history behind the iconic photograph and his contribution to the Civil War.

Very powerful eye opener! Would absolutely watch again. Will Smith's performance did not disappoint! I can't come to imagine the pain and anguish that blacks endured and unfortunately continue to endure present day. It's sickening and heartbreaking that whites behaved this way… but am surprised? The superiority mindset is absolutely baffling!! Anyone possessing such deep hatred towards another human based on color is quite disturbed. It's shameful!

Not that bad. But the way to find the freedom was somehow boring.

Emancipation is like a nightmare where the monster chases the runner. Crystal clear visuals compensating to the colour tones is remarkable. Cinematography is excellent capturing the vastness of Louisiana Swamps. Powerful visuals that tells a great amount of story that cannot be put to script. Movie centers on the obstacle course Peter overcome making the story a snippet of one man's life who wins his freedom the hard way still this potential deviation from historic accuracies adds a uniqueness and most importantly a religiousness based on a faith that's tested. Will Smith's sincere performance make the experience very much worthwhile.

Loved the movie...do NOT LOVE Will Smith after his "Slap" performance. With so many outstanding black actors around they could have selected someone else to play the role of Peter Showing. Time to send him into retirement on a hidden island someplace...
