EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time
audience Reviews
, 91% Audience Score- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThe first 50+ minutes are painfully inconsequential. The problem that this 4th chapter has is that the storytelling was so inconsistent and ambiguous, that by the time we reach this grand coupe de grace it's just very wishy washy what's happening and what's supposed to be important. Evangelion is a very well produced, animated and voiced anime, but the storytelling's garbage. If that wasn't enough, the MAIN CHARACTER has had absolutely no character development in 20 years! How?!! I had to finish the series after it won the academy award and got all this hype...but this movie does those accolades 0 justice.

- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis movie is an over complicated pile of ass that makes absolutely no sense from start to finish. Anyone who says this is a good movie would simply say "you just don't understand" I've seen more NGE that I should have to have a grasp of what's happening and NONE of it makes any sense.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsdefiently recommend this, worth my time!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis was the best ending for the movie. The people that dislike it either don't understand the story, or were disappointed in the ending. I think, along with others, is the true ending to the series, as everyone gets their happy ending, including Shinji, and makes sense.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsWhat if... the original show was about a happy boy who beat up monsters and solved his problems with the magic of love? Would we remember it after 30 years? That's what this is. Might've been OK for a different franchise, here it's just cringe and childish.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsShin Evangelion Gekijôban (2021) Disappointing Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Three times once (2021) Disappointing the last Rebuilding of Evangelion movie, it seems that Hideo Anno made it on purpose as the 26th chapter of the anime series. The professional reviews that were positive in Japan and the United States seem to be paid for since how can they say it is a good movie?. Everything went off the rails in the third film when the plot of Shiji and Rei 2 that dealt with the relationship between mother and son was abandoned. Mary was always a forced character, the characters' dialogue was too stupid (Mary talking about her big breasts), Asuka with a 14 year old body and a 14 year old mentality paired with 30 year old Aida was a lot of child abuse . Too much fan service with drawings of teenagers in underwear, naked or in suggestive positions that were in bad taste. When the script of the movies stopped being similar to the TV series, everything went to hell, they added characters from Willie's crew that were mediocre and that no one asked for, they were similar to the crew of the Matrix movies on the ship Nebunoconnosor or Firefly. No one cared about Mary, Gendo, Touji or Aida. It also had ugly 3D CGI effects. My ratings for each movie: . Evangelion 1.11, 7 star rating . Evangelion 2.22, 8 star rating . Evangelion 3.33, 6 star rating . Evangelion 3.0 ±1, 4 star rating.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsSame problem that plagues all of the Evangelion series: a good story devolves inside the mind of the main character, whose self-pity and self-loathing unleash into an endless psychological analysis so that the the story never ends. The end. What a waste of time... again. Don't expect a satisfying resolution, just more of the same garbage that PREVENTS a satisfying conclusion.
