If you’ve seen an Evil Dead movie before, you know what you’re getting into: relentless gore, insane violence, and an almost comical level of carnage. Evil Dead Rise takes that formula, dials it up to eleven, and moves the action to a creepy, decaying apartment complex—because why should cabins have all the fun? The setup is simple but effective. A mom gets possessed by a Deadite after her kids find a cursed book in the basement, and from there, it’s full-throttle chaos. The practical effects are top-tier, and some of the kill sequences are so gnarly that I had to look away (and I don’t do that often). There’s one scene involving a cheese grater that I promise will make you wince. Lily Sullivan, who plays the main protagonist, absolutely kills it (pun intended). She’s a badass, but she’s also terrified, and the movie makes you feel that fear. The Deadite designs are disgusting in the best way, and the humor—yes, there’s humor—works surprisingly well without undercutting the horror. It’s definitely not for the squeamish, and some might find it a bit too over-the-top, but if you’re into brutal, no-holds-barred horror that just goes for it, this is your movie.

The typical Evil Dead movie, except it uses it's mere concept to terrify you: Evil Dead situations, but happening in an isolated apartment floor to a family. Having these events happen with children present instantly makes the movie tenser, and they don't pull punches by giving any character plot armor. It's very much hurt by two characters in specific that make the opening half hour more difficult then I am able to ignore.

Definitely nothing compared to the other films and the 2013 remake but it's still an entertaining movie for what it is and the scene with the cheese greater really got me! Not a fan of the cast. My best part of the entire movie was the title sequence with the lady floating out of the water and the title behind her rising. ABSOLUTE CINEMA moment.

Biggest flop movie! This is nothing compared to the 2013 Evil Dead movie! This movie feels rushed through and the actors have no fear of what they seeing or experiencing!

    Biggest trash I’ve ever seen!

the practical horror fx and sets all shine, it's an interesting movie visually for sure. while the diverse characters added a lot, they were let down by a rather shallow story filled more with foreshadowing than substance. got rather bored halfway through, though the gore starts getting relentless there. but what makes this fail as an Evil Dead movie is the complete lack of humor.
