Falling for Figaro
audience Reviews
, 71% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAs a vocalist, I greatly enjoyed this Scottish romp with the classic arias of opera! The overly perfectionist teacher & retired diva reminded me of my own vocal lessons from back when I studied music at college. Though this movie was far more enjoyable. A great way to spend a cold & rainy evening, bundled up with some soup & this romcom. Cheers!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI gave up pretty quickly, and my wife didn't last much longer. It was bad. The problems: Opera sucks, and so watching a movie in which opera is sung isn't really a fun time. They almost lost me in the opening, in which the main character gazes adoringly at an opera performance, while the insensitive boyfriend sleeps. Honestly, I was with the boyfriend on that one. I also didn't find the lead convincing as the love interest. I think its body positivity or whatever you want to call it, but an obese person with a slim hot partner is just not believable for be. (And I say this as a person who weights more than he would like.)
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsThe only thing worse than the script was the voice dubbing. The acting tried to be worse. But it wasn't quite that bad
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsFor those of us who love singing: a total delight! For 90 minutes forgot about the problems of the world and immersed my soul in the music.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAn unpretentious, uplifting and pitch perfect little film, with glorious music. I can't help but think it deserved much more recognition than it received.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsWe are supposed to root for her but she cheats on her boyfriend, and leads on another. She is "dissatisfied" with her job but without it she wouldn't have been able to afford to follow this dream where she flounced around said cash to everyone in the beginning. Then cheats on her boyfriend that is kind and supporting (they tried to make it seem like he wasn't supportive and made him apologize for it but he definitely was very supportive). Then Leads another guy on. The main character is just selfish and entitled. Very hard to like. Maybe they should have done another actress bc this one did not cut it.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsA fun but predictable rom com that was enjoyable to watch. As a classical music lover, I appreciated hearing the wonderful music that was sung (by actual singers, not the actors, in the case of the principal characters). But the acting was good, which diminished the plot's defects and made the whole movie entertaining!
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThe story is predictable, but refreshingly sincere and upbeat. I didn't find a dull moment. Casting was spot on. I particularly enjoyed the performance of Mrs. Joanna Lumley. To me she was the star of this lovely romantic comedy. I very much appreciated her talent.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI loved this movie. People say it's predictable. Makes me wonder how people are expecting for a rom com movie to end. I think the acting is superb especially of the leads. This movie made me want to watch an opera because of the amazing music. The dry humor got a few hearty laughs from me even from my hubby who is, in fact, a rom com movie snob. Worth watching!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsLoved the music, but also the story. It showed how hard work and determination can reward you.
