I couldn't really understand it the first time I watched this when I was a child... Anyway a stunningly beautiful and emotionally powerful epic could span decades.

A stunning epic about the sacrifices required for great art and how failure and triumph are ultimately intertwined. Also this might be the definitive depiction of the horrors of the Chinese cultural revolution, with it all happening based entirely on personal recriminations and individual lust for power.

simplesmente um dos filmes mais lindos que já vi. Adeus, minha concubina é capaz de te fazer ver diferentes lados de muitas coisas. Eu sempre tive uma imagem muito superficial sobre o cinema chinês, e ainda mais sobre as peças. Tudo é tão bem encaixado que é satisfatório, a transição da infância até a fase adulta, os sentimentos muito bem representados. É um filme muito emocionante e lindo de se ver.

Facinating and classic movie.Record and show the pathetic Chinese history from Qing dynasty to CCP period

A brutal film and released during a brief period of Chinese political opening for the cultural scene. The scope is vast and like the film To Live, it can't really do justice to the enormous events within Chinese society over the fifty or so years in question. There are some brilliant aspects to the film including the female lead who really stood out and owned her scenes. However, it does grow tired in places and Chinese opera is painful to listen to. Decent but not as good as other Chinese classics of the era in my opinion.

All performers are great in particular for the leading actress, Gong Li portraying the most "Hot" mistress...she has an excellent character in this motion picture, Farewell My Concubine 1993... Nevertheless, singer-actor, Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing is also good within his inside feeling when...
