Fathers and Daughters
audience Reviews
, 60% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI loved it so much, I made an account just to post the review. What the filmmakers got right, was the deep bond of a father and a daughter, and how early experiences can shape us. Katie goes thru quite an emotional journey, that is incredibly touching, and worth seeing. Excellent performances by the three main actors.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsGood in many ways, but no convincing solution for children of dysfunctional families.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsExcellent movie that had my attention from start to finish. The so called professionals here panning it is just incompetence. Frustrated armchair playwrights channeling the disappointment of their lack of skills by attacking those that have them.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsI'm one that can be completely satisfied with an emotional human story movie. A story of life. Doesn't have to be flashy, big moments, gigantic plot twists, etc. This is one of those movies that delivers. A story of living with tragedy and how it shapes your life and trying to live through it. I loved the the juxtaposition jumping between the younger years and the impact on the adult life. Beautiful movie. Loved it. As a father of a daughter about to head off to college I could totally immerse myself emotionally into all the characters.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsi loved it up to the middle and then it became to boring. It was sad the cast was amazing they just couldnt get the job done
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsNegative reviewers have no soul. That's the only explanation. As a father to two little potato chips this was very moving. There is mature content so this isn't suitable for small children but it is well written with great acting. It captures the good, bad, and ugly of life.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI loved it. It was an emotional rollercoaster and, as a parent, it had me on the edge of my seat at times. Brilliant acting, particularly with the young Katie I thought. Great film
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIgnore the bad reviews, they are just unpatient people and clearly this is not their movie type, its good having movies telling stories for an issue happening to a lot of women, like any other movies telling other types of human issues, great movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI am puzzled by the negative reviews! This is a tender, well written, tear jerker of a love story/drama on so many levels. Melodramatic? Perhaps a little, but I would not have used the word at all if I hadn't seen it in other reviews. You decide. The performances are extraordinary, particularly 11-year-old (at the time) Kylie Rogers as Russell Crowe's daughter, Katie. Amanda Sevfried as the adult Katie is also superb. Russell Crowe is magnetic, as usual. This is the kind of movie I wait for and look for but seldom run across. I'm glad I happened upon it.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsAn honest film about a father who is somehow about to retain the love of his daughter despite the attacks from the legal system and a vindictive sister in law. I do agree with the negative review that the future timeline sullied the film. The daughter would probably not grown up insecure and defile her body that way. It makes little sense considering she had such a strong father figure. Only families without fathers end up like that in real life.
