A solid bit of high-concept B-movie fun, establishing Josh Hartnett as a credible action hero, and James Madigan as a genre director to watch.

James Madigan, hitherto a second-unit director, takes precisely the right attitude from the opening skirmish. This is cartoon violence at a level of savagery that might give Itchy & Scratchy pause for thought.

Fight or Flight borrows liberally from B-movies past, struggling and failing to come up with something novel. It isn’t a long movie, but it doesn’t feel as short as its 90-minute run-time might suggest either.

Fight or Flight may hit some narrative turbulence, but with Hartnett’s swagger and Madigan’s visual flair, it still makes for an entertaining—if implausible—ride.
