It's just not a good movie. Minor spoiler, it's a bunch of criminals getting in trouble for their criminal activities and we're somehow supposed to be on their side in the matter. How are they going to get out of their first criminal bind? By committing an even worse criminal act. I didn't find any redeeming qualities in this movie.

Spoiler alert here. If most of you are thinking about seeing this movie based on the scene with Tommie Lee Jones confronting the guy in the diner, offering him money to leave his son alone like I was, then you've seen almost the entire movie already. The first half of the movie is about fishing. That's it. That's not what I expected based on the trailer. If you want to enjoy it, fast forward until they get caught fishing in Canada. That's actually when the movie starts. I was very disappointed.

Excellent. Loved it. Loved the ending. I don’t go by professional critics but rather people who watch movies because they enjoy it. I enjoyed this one.

Loved seeing the beautiful Coast of New Bedford. Not just about scalloping but true feelings of family and the difficulty in life. Tommy Lee was awesome.

Some of the Boston accents are bad, but not sure what everyone is complaining about. Very solid movie with great cast. As someone from Boston, it’s a pretty accurate depiction of the New Bedford and New England fishing life. Was interesting through the whole thing and would rewatch it.

FINESTKIND begins strongly, led by an engaging Toby Wallace and a compelling sense of adventure. Unfortunately, the film soon stumbles into a mess of contrivance and crime cliche that reaches a strange climax before committing to a sentimental finish. Good effort, I suppose, but not of the caliber audiences may expect with Taylor Sheridan prominently listed as a producer.

The fact this movie doesn't hold a better review, shows the disconnect between cinema critics and the audience. Is the storyline a little predictable, possibly. Does it feel similar to a sea loving Hell or High Water, yes. What makes this worth a viewers time is the amazing performances by an all-star cast.

I really enjoyed it, sure it was rather predictable but I still got caught up in it somehow . Probably because Ben Foster is just that good, possibly the most underrated actor of our time and Tommy is solid in the supporting. If you enjoyed it check out. Hell or High Water
