Force of Nature: The Dry 2

Sadly, the movie is a little too dry, too.

Force of Nature generates just enough mystery never to be boring, but not enough interest to elevate it above its modest trappings.

The film is well-made and well-acted, but it merely suggests depth rather than actually having it.

Despite... flaws of storytelling logic and compression, “Force of Nature”’s convoluted mysteries keep us involved if not wholly persuaded.

Director/screenwriter Robert Connolly takes full advantage of gorgeous but treacherous Australian locales – including a waterfall – and all of it is quite a sight to behold.

Unlike its riveting predecessor, it’s absorbing but never quite gripping.

As in the series’ first entry, landscape overshadows people.

While Eric Bana delivers a good performance, for me, Anna Torv helps round out this film with emotion we can ride along with.

Falk's return in this perfectly serviceable sequel is evenly paced and has fine outdoor cinematography&#59; it captures a novel's texture, if relying on a few too many flashbacks.

Maybe Bana and Connolly will reunite for an adaptation of the third and final novel featuring Aaron Falk, if only to redeem The Dry franchise from this disappointing follow-up.
