Free Guy

, 94% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsFinally a movie that isn't just a sequel or remake of another movie. This film was creative and thrilling, would love to see more creative liberties taken like this!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI didn't actually like the trailer to it and I didn't know if I was actually going to bother watching it but when I watched it, it was awesome.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsIt's got a clever idea that has been done in films from Stranger than Fiction to The Truman Show but in a much more stupid and "modern" fashion. The music is alright I guess but man it's a complete mess with no theme to it. We will literally go from Digital Underground to Fred Astaire (Never thought I'd say those two names together) in the blink of an eye to 70's soft rock to Bhwammm. It's all over the place. Everything else isn't bad though. Reynolds & Watiti are decent but everyone else is super forgettable including the love interest. Second this feels like two seperate films visually and story wise. There's the real world drama going on trying to get the game source code back and Guy learning he's not real. Sometimes the two work together but most times it doesn't. A big culprit is also because this film has a tone problem. It goes from mindlessly stupid to serious and dramatic instantly but never makes the two work together in a cohesive manner. Visually also the video game scenes are better and more colorful but they also look like a completely differnt film from the real world storyline. The first half also feels like the better part of this. It follows 90% of the beats you'd expect a movie like this to follow but the execution to make it work is. mixed at best. The direction is just alright too. More creative in the video game scenes than the real world ones. The other big thing....my god the attempts to be "modern"....this has aged so poorly in that regard. The streamers, Marvel humor and references, being about video games to resonate with a younger audience. Even though there isn't that much screentime for these things the more they appear the more annoying, out of place, and dated it feels. Probably one of my least favorite things about this. If your a hardcore video game movie fan or fan of any actors in this than maybe check it out. But the genre is becoming much better. In a different era this would easily be the best of the best.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI would recommend this movie to everyone I know. One of the best movies I have ever seen. The story is simply perfect, the idea of an NPC actually feeling and being a sentient being it's brilliant. The characters are also incredible, lovely. The special guests were also very funny and we'll fitting in the movie. The CGI is absolutely incredible, definitely worth the watch.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsVery original movie that is very meta about the gaming industry. Loved it!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsA cool spin on a video game movie, free guy leaves me entertained while Ryan Reynolds puts his own unique twist on this movie
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsStupidest movie ever, please don't waste your time with this
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsA truly amazing film with lots of easter eggs and fan service for fans who know about it. By the way, why does the name of the owner of Soonami Studios sound like the name of one of the Marvel superheroes, Antman, which has been slightly changed to Antwan?
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars“A video game where the background guy becomes the main guy?! That’s like if I became the star of every Looney Tune! Oh wait—I should be. Anyway, Ryan’s got charm, heart, and perfectly animated hair. Bonus points for chaos and the cameo that made me spill my popcorn!” Rating: “8.6/10 – More fun than multiplayer mayhem in Duck Hunt.”
