, 91% Audience Score- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsSmall set film done really well. People coming in and out with enough randomness to keep you watching a film, that if done wrong, would have been very boring. Brilliant cast.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars30 years old and it’s still one of Ice Cube's best next to Chris Tucker A stoner comedy with so many funny scenes and quotable moments Moves at a very breakneck pace not overstaying it’s welcome It’s got quite the soundtrack being a throwback to the 1990s For a movie with virtually no plot it’s a chill, relaxing watch A lot can happen on one day and Cube even breaks the fourth wall on occasion Cube stars and writes with Director F. Gary Gray before ‘The Negotiator’ and ‘Fate of the Furious’ to tell the story of Craig and his buddy Smokey Craig has no job and needs to provide for his family living in the poor part of Los Angeles black community, Smokey just smokes all day but is his best friend They deal with weed, girls, and hustlers mainly a man named Deebo collecting on a debt but anyone who’s grown up being low-income like these characters can relate especially with all the guns and gang violence With Craig he has his own gun for protection but maybe his father has a point that he’s afraid to take a hit by anyone, he has a choice to raise his fists to be brave or end up like a statistic, maybe the kids are just punks not criminals, you win some you lose some but you get to live, you can still be a man without using a gun So this takes place entirely on a porch outside Craig’s house but the funny banter of the two leads sells it all This has gained quite the cult following too with two sequels and a third on the way (hopefully returning to form) It’s a welcome comedic view of south central living even after all this time
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsF*k the AI overview. The only thing cringe worthy about Friday is their trash a$$ review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsClassic movie with a great story and funny jokes. Many iconic lines.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsA lot can go down between Thursday and Saturday... Friday is a 1995 American buddy comedy film directed by F. Gary Gray 🎭 Can’t recommend it. Oof, this isn’t good 🙁Probably give it a miss 👎🏼 Craig and Smokey are two guys in Los Angeles hanging out on their porch on a Friday afternoon, smoking and drinking, looking for something to do.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsNo matter how many times I rewatch this film, it never fails to make me laugh. "Friday" undoubtedly stands as one of the greatest hood movies of all time. While it features plenty of a** whooping, it’s refreshing to see a story of life in the hood that doesn’t dwell on sadness or death.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis movie is hilarious! As far as comedies go about the hood, this one is hands down the best. Chris Tucker and Ice Cube really mix up nicely in this one.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsA movie that's more cringeworthy than comedic. Ice Cube stars as Craig Jones, a recently fired slacker who spends his days hanging out with his friends in the inner city. The problem is, the movie relies too heavily on stereotypes, and the slap stick comedy comes off cheap. The characters in friday are paper-thin and lack any real depth or development. Craig's friend Smokey (Chris Tucker) is a annoying, high-pitched caricature, while Craig's father (John Witherspoon) is a gruff, authoritative figure with no discernible motivation. Definitely the most cringworthy character of the film. The movie's attempts at comedy fall flat, with most of the jokes relying on tired stereotypes and slapstick humor. The plot is weak and meandering, with Craig getting into various misadventures with his friends. Overall, "Friday" is a disappointing and unfunny movie that relies too heavily on stereotypes and lacks any real depth or character development. Even Ice Cube's presence can't save this mess. I don't understand how it's went on to produce two sequels but they're definitely ones I won't be entertaining.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars'Friday' is decently amusing viewing. The only thing I knew coming into it was the leads and their much used 'damn'; always fun to seeing memes in their original form, I was waiting for it to show up. Ice Cube and Chris Tucker are a well chosen pairing here. The rest of the cast are noteworthy, a fair number of known faces. Nia Long, Regina King and Bernie Mac being the biggest that I recognised, John Witherspoon and Faizon Love are in there too. The plot could've done with a few more layers of interest, though the end is good.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsIce Cube and Chris Tucker shine, Chris Tucker steals the show in this first installment. Story is solid, it really captures the feel of South Central in the 90's and tells a funny but suspenseful tale. F Gary Gray does a great job with the direction, Tiny Zeus Lister as Debo is a great & classic film antagonist.
