I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did based on some of the bad/mediocre reviews this movie got. However, this was a great movie. I really liked the ending, too.

the point of the film is made very early on and the monster or apparition is revealed too early and too often without any real emphasis or concern for pacing. the script is filled with contrivances and generally boring. we have seen better religious critiques, better queer coming of age films and better horror films, what is left here stands uneasily on the lines between these without dedicating anything meaningful to any of them. i don't recommend it.

One of the best movies I've seen in awhile. A very touching and relatable story to many paired with insanely incredible acting. A Must See!

Great actors. Amazing script. I loved this movie. The monster of religion, cognitive dissonance of those self righteous zealots who want to save while doing more life long harm than good, self acceptance, and more. I can’t recommend this movie enough to anyone who has ever been made to feel ashamed for just being themselves. 10/10

Moronic view of Christians. Driven by stereotypical Hollywood BS. For all the movies about oppressive Christians there are you'd think a person would meet just one at their local church. Nobody cares if you're a dude that likes another dude. Get over yourselves.

If you are looking for a slow burn southern gothic queer horror, then you have come to the right place. Ganymede captures the chest crushing control of the evangelical south, where the real monsters are people. Jordan Doww holds it down in his first lead role where he perfectly captures what it is like to grow up, closeted and queer, and feeling no way out. The Ganymede is all of us, and the only way to freedom, is through taking the deepest dives into the darkest waters. If you are queer and have felt any of this, highly recommend watching, it will be healing.

A cool new take on the coming of age/coming out story. Amazing performances that really capture rural American with an authenticity I've rarely seen on screen. Hollywood loves to pretend like they're showing small towns, but the people always end up feeling like caricatures. This one nails it. Robyn Lively truly brings to life the small town church mom in a way that made me believe every second. And Koechner as the evil pastor is not something that I'll soon forget. The horror is understated and psychological, but at the same time all too real. Such a fantastic film -
