Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life

Drawing a Life was a deeply moving documentary about an artist I’ve admired for decades. Watching how Geoff has managed to balance art and commerce on his own terms, all while staying true to his vision and continuing to evolve his style, was truly inspiring. The film’s soundtrack, insightful interviews, and the vast showcase of Geoff’s work, paired with his openness, make this a real gem. I rarely watch movies with headphones, but when my partner dozed off (it was quite late), it made the experience feel even more personal and intimate. Highly recommend.

I loved this film. Been a fan of Geoff's for ages but there was a lot I didn't know about him. The film helps you get to know his process, his family and how his work has developed. The little animated interludes work really well in telling the story of the ideas in his work. It's great.

My wife and I made a movie night out of Drawing a Life, and we both loved it. So many 'wow' moments of inspiration, and such delightfully emotional scenes too. The whole film felt smooth, so well paced, and featured ace art direction throughout! Leaves you feeling introspective and inspired to go out and create.

Dan Covert created a masterpiece. I’ve followed Geoff forever and I have now watched this film multiple times since I bought it the day it was released. This captures everything it means to be an artist and/or design, and Dan couldn’t have filmed a better person to share their story. The way Geoff approaches art and life is the way we all should, with passion, respect, and grace. They say you don’t want to meet your heroes but I feel like I met Geoff through this film, and Geoff bucks that trend 100%. Dan's beautiful filming found a way to capture his art in both composition and tone. I will be watching again and again, and sharing it with everyone I know! Thank you Dan & Geoff!

Watched this last night and it’s magnificent. I’ve been a fan of Geoff’s work for years but this is a great look into his life and journey. Highly recommended.

A incredible film about how to create your own way to live and make art. Super insightful and inspiring, it’s a really well executed on filmmaking technique and pace of editing. A true documentary class.

This is such an inspiring story of Geoff, an artist who has a built an amazing career with patience and without compromise. Beautifully told by Director Dan Covert….also even more proof that all great things come from skateboarding. Haha.

An absolute eyeopening film about life balance, leaving you pondering a change in your approach and outlook on every day life. For a documentary, I was surprised by the pace it was able to provide, never teetering, dragging or losing my interest, visually and narratively. The film's pace of story accompanied by it's edit, clever interstitials, and moving music was constructed ever so elegantly.

This was a very well made movie but we felt it wasn’t interesting for those not in the art scene. We were hoping for more focus on the way his art influenced brands and the movie/product world. We did hang in there for an hour so we gave it a solid try.
