Great story of a family overcoming difficulties and through grit and determination, achieving success in spite of obstacles. A true American story. Ben Carson for President!

First of all, the mother never aged. They needed a more skillful approach to the makeup in the film. The character development was weak. They didn't show his struggle to learn. They just pointed at it. I would have loved to have seen his romance and his struggle. It was a missed opportunity in many ways. Forgettable. Watch a different movie. I always aim for five stars and this movie falls short at 3.

Great story but the movie is incredibly boring and the script is atrocious.

I enjoyed this one and the story that it told us about the great surgeon Ben Carson and how he came to be from early life growing up with his mother guiding the way. Good cast with Cuba Gooding as Ben to bring the story to life was great also and added to enjoyment of the story.

An important story that was never fully recognized because of politics. It's a shame, because it was entertaining and fascinating despite its adequate direction and editing. Regardless, Ben Carson accomplished great things and this film probably only tells the big stories. It was on Netflix.

The plot and timing of the movie is excellent. Good entertainment.

inspiring and amazing story filled with heartfelt twist and turns

A pretty good drama that just isn't perfect because of some little mistakes that almost ruin the humanity of the characters and the plot. Still a great movie.

Watched it at school and ten years later I still remember it, so it must have been good! Should watch it again
