Viewers who press play with intent to scoff may be surprised with how genuinely caught up they become.

Girl You Know It's True doesn't always work, but even at 2 hours, this one is as catchy as, well, a Milli Vanilli song.

The new movie splits the difference between the horrible and the hilarious, with predictably lukewarm results. Still, the story is delicious enough to survive an earnest treatment.

A competent and watchable two hours, but the ground it covers has been better trod elsewhere.

There have been some embarrassing biopics over time but this, a feature length version of Behind the Music recreations, is hackneyed in at best, laughable at times and shockingly shallow in engaging with the most basic sins of the entire deception.

It's the best movie you never heard of, and one of the best of 2024.

I found little interest in this uninteresting musical biopic of living a lie.

Without accepting the movie as gospel, you can appreciate the vitality with which it depicts an odd episode in pop music history that continues to resonate despite its essentially trivial nature.

This a fantastic film. It's inventive and the two lead actors are perfectly cast. Even though you know what's gonna happen at the end, you still hope they make it because these two lead actors are so charismatic. This is one of the better music biopics.
