Julianne Moore gave an unparalleled performance that was the heart and soul of the movie. I was left wondering if this was because of the director or the actress, or both? In any case, purely outstanding work.

It started out really interesting but the last quarter and ending was just mediocre. Watch if there's nothing else on.

Gloria is working on having a life despite dysfunctional relationships with her ex & a new relationship is only legally divorced. Julianne Moore carries the movie, but supporting actors also shine.

One of the worst movies I've seen yet. What a waste of my time

This American remake of the 2013 Spanish film GLORIA, helmed by the same director, came and went with little fanfare or attention. That's a shame, because Julianne Moore's truly wonderful performance deserved awards consideration. She is by far the highlight of this slice of life comedy/drama, and even when the plot begins to strain credulity a bit, Moore keeps everything anchored. She is one of the bravest actors at work today - physically and emotionally - and her performance is raw and honest. There's not much of a plot here - it's definitely a character study - but like a good meal, the more I thought about it afterwards, the more I realized how special it was. There is a plot twist 3/4 of the way through involving Turturro that I felt didn't seem realistic, but it's a minor quibble. The supporting cast is exceptional, with a couple faces I haven't seen in a long time. And the soundtrack is wonderful - everything from Earth Wind and Fire to Laura Branigan! It reminded me a bit of a film like RACHEL GETTING MARRIED in its emotional realness and character introspection - and that is high praise indeed!

Julianne Moore is excellent and shows her true ability to carry a movie. Gloria Bell is not a feel good movie. But rather a movie about life, and the realistic twists that make it fun, exciting, and sorrowful. You constantly find yourself in an emotional coaster rooting for Gloria to win.

Me imagino assim daqui alguns anos curtindo a vida moderadamente, viajando, talvez namorando, curtindo a família e trabalhando... Trágico, dramático, realista e feliz...

This is a somewhat subtle and understated film about a middle aged woman living in the LA, who expresses herself via visits to the local dance/nights clubs, which lead to a number of relationships. It may make you think about how society judges and reacts to people who don't have too much to tie themselves down to. It features a good performance from Julianne Moore as the titular character and I enjoyed the music played in certain scenes - there are some decent disco tunes played, for one. I think this film is good from a feminist point of view, depicting a woman who is quite determined to live life her own way, though 'empty nest syndrome' does play a role in this film. I suppose you could say its about detachment perhaps?. Plot wise it seemed a little slow perhaps and possibly somewhat directionless in the first half of the film maybe, though that may be being a bit harsh but otherwise I would gladly recommend this film. I think it's good that Hollywood are depicting such tales.
