I love Fincher's vision - subversive, darkly funny, shot through with warped romance, and ultimately mysterious. Gone Girl features all these elements, lit up by Rosamund Pike's awesome performance and Trent Reznor's and Atticus's Ross's beautifully dark soundtrack. Curiously, the movie starts off somewhat woodenly, taking a while to finds its feet (unlike most other good but not great films that start with a bang only to lose momentum). But the twists and turns, subverting expectations (I've not read the novel), make Gone Girl equal parts thrilling and depraved.

David Fincher’s Gone Girl is a taut, stylish, and deeply unsettling thriller that delivers on every level. I had no real idea of what to expect going into this, but I absolutely loved it. Based on Gillian Flynn’s bestselling novel, the film delves into the dark undercurrents of modern marriage, media frenzy, and personal reinvention. Rosamund Pike provides a hauntingly brilliant performance as Amy Dunne, a woman trapped in what may or may not be an unhappy marriage. Her performance is layered and unnerving as she seamlessly shifts from victim to villain. The film begins as a standard missing person story: Amy disappears on her 5th wedding anniversary, and her husband Nick (Ben Affleck) quickly becomes the prime suspect. As the narrative unfolds, timelines blur, motives twist. What emerges is a chilling portrait of manipulation and media spectacle. Trent Reznor's score creates a creeping sense of dread. But it’s Pike’s performance that anchors the film. She is alternately cool and terrifying. Gone Girl is a provocative commentary on love, gender expectations, and the roles we play for each other. If you liked Girl on the Train and Fight Club, you'll probably like this.

I need some quiet, I'm in my How to Forge Your Own Perfect Murder class, and the teacher's name is Amy Dunne.

This is one of the best crime-dramas I've ever seen. The story was intense and compelling, and it provided really great performances from the cast. I definitely recommend it for crime and drama fans!

"Gone Girl" is a meticulously crafted psychological thriller that expertly deconstructs marriage, media influence and public perception. David Fincher’s direction is razor-sharp, transforming Gillian Flynn’s novel into a chilling, slow-burn mystery filled with unexpected twists. Rosamund Pike delivers a mesmerizing performance as Amy Dunne, crafting one of the most compelling and unsettling characters in recent cinema. While Ben Affleck provides a solid counterpart, it’s Pike who dominates the film with her icy precision. Dark, stylish and deeply unsettling, "Gone Girl" is a gripping thriller that lingers long after the credits roll.

One of the most contemptible pieces of cinema I've ever had the misfortune of sitting through.

It was ok. The script didn't really make a whole lot of sense. Fincher sort of lost his touch after Seven and Fight Club days. Too Oscar driven.
