audience Reviews
, 87% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGREASE outgrows its own story, driven by iconic songs, indelible style, and its magnetic cast. It’s essential viewing for anyone who’s ever swooned to a show tune or believed in summer love.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsGrease is a fun, energetic musical that perfectly captures 1950s nostalgia while still feeling fresh for its time. Released in the late ‘70s, it gave audiences a way to look back at the style, fashion, and teen culture of the ‘50s in a fun and exciting way. The soundtrack is packed with catchy songs, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John have great chemistry, and the high school drama is entertaining from start to finish. While it tones down some of the edgier elements from the original stage musical, it stays true to the spirit of youthful rebellion, romance, and rock ‘n’ roll. Beyond the music and love story, Grease also preserves the little details that make the ‘50s unforgettable, from rotary phones to classic diners and vintage cars. These touches add to the film’s charm, making it feel like a time capsule of a bygone era. Even today, it can inspire people to appreciate or even recreate elements of the past, keeping the energy and style of the ‘50s alive for new generations. Everything was so colorful, nice and alive!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsNostalgic, sweet, wild, rowdy, kitsch, what more do you want? Goes well with huge popcorn and a shake hahaha. Looks very very different now to what I experienced way back when first watched in cinema where everybody was allowed to smoke still. But it will stay great, cult at it's absolute best
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of the best American love stories. The songs are incredible and very well performed. The 1950’s are perfectly recreated. One of my absolute favorite films of all time!
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsGreat adaption of the Broadway hit. This movie is now pushing 50 years old and have proven to stand the test of time. I recently showed it to my 13 year old and she can't get "Hopelessly Devoted To You" out of her head.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThe songs are catchy, but the message in the film is a bit off. It’s telling women to change themselves for a guy who was a jerk to them.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starshonestly the movies a classic with wonderful music that gives a feel of a time long past i have so many good memories associated with watching this movie with my gramma and singing and dancing along to the songs . yea its idealized but isnt that what movies are for ? who wants heck who needs everythin to be realistic ?to me that sounds boring
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe perfect musical. It has arguably the best soundtrack of all time.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsGreat movie. thanks paramount. 8.7/10
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsWho were the clueless critics who dismissed this instant classic? Even more baffling, they rated that dreadful live television version higher. To them, I have just three letters: WTF. The songs are legendary, the performances just as iconic, and the film captures the spirit of the Rock 'n' Roll era more joyfully than dramas like American Graffiti or Eddie and the Cruisers. My only minor gripe is that Danny and Sandy’s relationship feels underdeveloped outside the musical numbers. However, their teenage love was never meant to truly work until the film’s climax—when they shed the identities that once defined them, the greaser and the good girl, and embraced a fresh start. Only then do they “shape up” and commit to being “together, forever and ever” … chang chang changitty chang shoobop.
