How to get a group of strangers to introduce themselves
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
As a longtime Marvel fan—and someone who’s been into the comics even longer—I was surprised when Guardians of the Galaxy got announced. These characters weren’t even on my radar. They weren’t in any games I played or stories I really followed. I remember thinking, Why would Marvel take such a big swing on characters like these? But somehow, a bunch of lesser-known characters, a '70s/'80s pop-rock playlist, and a director who clearly cared a lot ended up creating what I still consider one of the best Marvel movies ever made.
Let’s just get the weak part out of the way: the villain’s kind of forgettable. But honestly, that was a common issue for Marvel back then, so no big surprise. Now, on to everything that works.
Back when a lot of what Marvel put out felt very much like Marvel, this one stood out. It felt connected, but not stuck in the usual Marvel mold—and that’s what made it special. The version of space they created was colorful, weird, and totally alive. The soundtrack is something I still play on Apple Music. Every major moment—whether emotional, hilarious, or action-spectacle—was backed by music that just emphasized everything on screen in the best way possible. I know I have spoken about the soundtrack of the film but the score is also amazing, hearing it swell during the ravagers descent on Ronins ship is a scene I replay just to get goosebumps. The cast has a lot of fun, both in their roles and with each other. Bradley Cooper as Rocket is a particular standout—I honestly constantly forget that he voices him and thats a testament to how great an actor he is and the amazing character he’s created.
I love this movie, It means a lot to me, and I’m just really glad it exists. With an exemplary soundtrack and score, a hilarious and lovable cast, a wild version of outer space, and a story full of charm and heart, Guardians of the Galaxy stands head and shoulders above most Marvel films. It’s not just one of my favorite comic book movies ever—it’s one of my favorite movies, period.

Fantastic movie with incredible actors, great story and many funny parts. There is a lot of thought that is clearly shown, through the use of jokes and still while being a comedy, having plenty of action as well. Definitely a must-see movie!

If you haven't seen this, see it now. If you have, watch it again. It's that good. One of the best, if not the best in the MCU. When I first saw this, I didn't know much about the Guardians comic books, and was blown away by the story and character building. So good!
