Super good movie. One of the better war movies presented.

Guy Ritchie directs a brilliant movie that upgrades its genre's formula by adding depth to the characters and beauty to the cinematography. What appears to be another mundane military feature about the War in Afghanistan at first turns into a tale of survival and friendship in this intense and surprisingly emotional film. Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim's powerful performances made it effortless for viewers to connect with their characters and were only outmatched by the breathtaking camerawork. No moment goes to waste as Ritchie makes every minute of The Covenant absorbing, captivating, and well worth watching.

It's a great story and the two main characters are surprisingly believable. There's a palpable sense of the injustice of USA being in Afghanistan and the sheer waste of their endeavours their. Equally there is a strong message about how they left behind some of those that they had promised so much to. The scenes where Kinley is being rescued by Ahmed are gruelling and had be anxious for both of them. The final shoot out takes a while to get to and feels a bit too Guy Richie - but the action is exciting. Time well spent watching it.

It’s not just another war movie. It’s a story about loyalty, brotherhood, and doing the right thing even when it’s inconvenient, even when no one’s watching. First I thought, “Alright, another soldiers-movie where the heroes are being pushed to the edge and somehow survive against all odds.” But The Covenant surprised me, DEEPLY! Jake Gyllenhaal delivers such a grounded, powerful performance. You don’t just watch his character, you feel everything with him. The fear, the guilt, the responsibility. And the bond with his interpreter is portrayed so beautifully and with such honesty, it moved me to tears. It’s rare to see male characters portrayed with this level of emotional depth and quiet strength. What struck me most is that it’s not a loud movie screaming “heroism.” It’s subtle, heavy, and incredibly human. And the fact that it’s inspired by true events makes it all the more haunting. I’m honestly so grateful that people like this still exist in the world, people who remember their promises, who fight for others no matter the cost.

An Ooh Rah ride focused on an interpreter and the sergeant he is paired with. It is JG, so there's a lot you can kind of guess is going to happen, as well as understanding how the end will play out. But, it is well-acted, and well directed. I really felt the bond between JG and DS's characters, which is integral to enjoying this as much as I did

This is the kind of movie that has you feeling like you are right there in the world of the movie, there's not many movies that fully immerse me like this one that have been made recently, this one's a really good one. There is violence, but it's not overdone and what they do show is relatively realistic violence that helps sell the immersion. The plot is solid, and acting was some of the best I've seen recently. Very good movie to the point where I made a rotten tomatoes account just to review it.

This is a tremendous must see film. It’s one of the best films of the last few years for sure and Jake Gyllenhaal’s best work. If you haven’t seen it, watch it now.
