This movie is an example of what a reboot should be. Sticking to the same aspect while refurbishing it to a more modern style.

A better continuation of the original than the other canon sequels.

Very great bounce back for the franchise after the pretty dull Halloween 2 from Rob Zombie

Another reboot and another chance for us Michael Myers’s fans to enjoy the frenzy. Not sure what I think about catching a glimpse of a nondescript looking Michael without the mask on as I’d rather leave his looks to the imagination.

Thought that this was a fantastic start to the new trilogy. Much better than any of the earlier ones. The first Halloween is still the best, but this one does an impeccable job.

What you need to remember when you watch this movie is that it treats the sequels in-between the 1978 film and this as if they didn't exist, aside from minor easter eggs. So, we will judge this as a sequel to the 1978 film. And it's pretty good. It's not as good as the original, it's just under Season of the Witch in my ranking, but it's pretty good. The plot is simple: Michael comes back forty years after the 1978 murders and he's back to settle his beef with Laurie. It's basically the plot of H20 but Laurie is prepared and spent ages preparing. It makes sense, as Michael is clearly a supernatural figure, proven by how he survived six shots, somehow. And, as an ending to Laurie's story, this is pretty good. It's overall a movie about Laurie getting closure, which is an aspect it does well. Michael is great in this film, as well. He feels like an older, more worn down version of himself, which fits the film's tone, and yet he feels threatening and almost alien, as he should. His stalker-y tendencies are here, as well, as they should be, and they work. I mean, there's a massive one shot sequence of him stalking and killing people when he returns to Haddonsfield, and it's done well. That's what this film does well: it feels like a celebration of Halloween as a movie, and that's what I like about it. Overall, a solid sequel to Halloween that ends off Laurie's story well.

Exciting, suspenseful, and an anxiety ridden film.
