This is gritty, darker, and more violent than any movies in the franchise. I jumped a few times. The scene in the bathroom stall is the scene I remembered the most about this film when I saw it way back when the first time.

This is a very good movie. It shows lots of Micheal’s childhood, which adds to the story. After that, it’s just like a newer version of the original.

Rob Zombie is great when he gets it right. They should’ve left it at this without the dumb sequel.

The scariest Michael Myers in my opinion

It's not as good as the original, sure, but I feel like this movie gets way too much hate. It's actually a fairly competent story that serves as an alternate take on John Carpenter's film. Let's begin. Firstly, the idea of seeing Michael's backstory is interesting. It fleshes out the opening scene of the original film, giving us a reason for why he did it essentially. Rob Zombie's version of Michael Myers is different, after all: he's more angry and more like a real serial killer. It's done decently and the scene where the mum kills herself is great. The actual remake of the original film is cool too and Laurie is both hot and a fun protagonist. But my favourite part about this movie is the vibe that takes over in the second half. It feels oddly nostalgic and comforting, at least until Michael shows up. There's just something nice about the Halloween vibe that feels familiar, like when you have a plate of pasta that's made exactly how your grandma used to make it, and it feels nostalgic. It's nice. Also Michael is great in this and when he fully becomes the villain, he's great. Overall, it's a very underrated and quite competent film that doesn't get enough credit, in my opinion.

Bro, Halloween (2007) was awful! The original Halloween from 1987 is way better than this one. This one was just bad. It's trash.

I appreciate Rob Zombie’s somber approach to his Halloween revision that gives Michael Myers a more formidable and unsettling backstory that elucidates the rationale behind his rampage. However, I believe that the film would have been even more compelling if it had been an entirely novel Halloween narrative rather than a remake with Rob Zombie’s distinctive visual style. Grading: C
