Hannibal Rising
audience Reviews
, 55% Audience Score- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsIt is a shame that Gaspard Ulliel's life was cut so short. He plays the role of Hannibal Lecter in a way that truely shows where the madness and callousness of the character come from. The movie is more horror than thriller, unlike Silence of the Lambs, Red Dragon, and Hannibal. Of course it is also not police procedural like Manhunter. The movie is pure evil and I love it. Understanding what made the monster was riveting and Gaspard does a fantastic job in a way that is almost erotic. Rhys Ifans is a fantastic villain and shows off why he plays a villain so well. Overall, this is one of my favorite Lecter movies.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThe Thomas Hartis book is almost perfect. Every sentence is crafted with care. Why then does it translate to this unholy mess on screen. OK the lead should never work again but it’s got a quality supporting cast - defies belief.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsLiterally created an account to say how horrible this film was. Movie was ass
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsI should seriously consider reading all the books in the Hannibal series. This movie adaptation makes Lecter so disjointed from all the previous film interpretations of the character. And to make it worse, this movie is just a glorified reason to gross the audience out with hyper-intensified sound design and editing. Every audio clip is a squishy mesh, or metallic clang, amped up to an abnormally high volume so that you react to the most disgusting sounds.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThere’s something tragic about investing heart and soul into a character as monstrous as Hannibal Lecter.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsOnce of the biggest pile of crap I've been given to see in a long time! Full of stupid clichés, nothing original, almost a parody of hannibal. The move bored me for more than 2h, I only kept watching because I enjoy the hannibal saga so much. But this one is a disgrace.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsHannibal Rising – Wie alles begann (Hannibal Rising) ist ein britisch-französischer Thriller von Peter Webber, das Drehbuch schrieb Thomas Harris anhand seines eigenen Romans Hannibal Rising, eines Prequels zum Roman Roter Drache. …
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI just watched Silence of the Lambs for the first time yesterday and wanted to see the prequel to that great movie. This movie is exceptional!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI just watched the series of movies over the past few days. This is just absolutely terrible. The acting: bad. The casting: bad. The storyline: a good idea, but executed very poorly. All of these factors stand out even more when you’ve just watched the Anthony Hopkins movies. Someone rushed this movie to production or it was a college project.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsSome of these reviews are just stupid. It’s an entertaining and delightfully brutal film, clearly depicting why Hannibal went completely mad, becoming the serial killer we all know and love. Never have I seen a film wherein I rooted for the “villain” more so than this one.
