Hell of a Summer
audience Reviews
, 55% Audience Score- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsI would rate it two stars, since there is some solid acting in the movie ... but I gave it a little more because it did make me laugh a couple times. I see the potential in the movie, but it still needs crafting. Highly disappointed that basically all the kills were off screen. Actual kills would have saved this movie, I fear. Not terrible to put on as background noise but not much more.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsIm sorry but Im absolutely obsessed with old slashers and I love the tropes in these movies! And my absolute favorite is when its set at a camp lol. I thought it was funny, spooky and even cute in the end. Comedy/slasher will forever be my favorite type of movie so Im very biased

- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis movie is fantastic. A must-see. Finn Wolfhard’s directorial debut is great.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsI couldn’t make it 20 mins in. Just stupid. I felt my brain cells dying the longer I watched. It was not funny or scary or even watchable. The acting/writing was so bad that you could tell the actors had a hard time delivering the lines with a straight face. I don’t think people who don’t like horror films should review them. I love them - and couldn’t sit through this.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis movie was great, it definitely had its moments where it spooked me a little, but overall the whole movie was entertaining! I would definitely watch this movie again. 5 out of 5!
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars*Hell of a Summer* feels like a love letter to classic slashers, but one written in pencil. There’s tons of heart, plenty of fun horror nods, and a decent amount of laughs — but at the end of the day, it still plays like a student film trying its best. The plot is pure summer camp slasher paint-by-numbers, and while the energy is infectious, the script is too messy to ignore. Easter eggs and genre references keep it lively, but they can’t patch up the flaws. A decent comedy-horror ride if your expectations are low and your slasher love runs deep.
