The best horror movie I've ever seen, Hereditary lends itself completely to its narrative, which is what does all the scaring. Led by a wonderful performance from Toni Collette, and written incredibly, Hereditary proves Ari Aster to be someone to keep an eye on.

I thought it was a great film. As with many who’ve seen the movie, I’ve seen virtually every horror movie worth seeing. This ranks right up there with the best of them. A slow burn; this film did not disappoint.

Some people say that Hereditary is bound to become a cult classic. I agree wholeheartedly. I could not stop thinking about this movie the entire weekend after I saw it. If you liked Midsommar, you will love this film.

It's a drama move masquerading as a horror film. Even worse, it's plainly clear that this film was made to impress film critics more than to entertain the audience. A24 falsely advertising this a horror in order to capitalise on the genre's audience made the experience of watching the movie even more frustrating. There's decent acting that would have gotten the attention that it deserves from the audience had the movie not been misled.

The whole time watching this film I couldn't figure out what was going to happen next. It's sheer chilling and creepy nature kept me intrigued. Toni Collette is wonderful at playing the complex Annie, whose life is plagued with tragic death, which seems to be linked to her family's past.

It isn't worth watching at all. it was so ridiculous

Well shot and good performances from all of the cast, but bloated and not remotely scary. Seemed to me they took inspiration from many superior horror movies from the past and delivered something which could have been tweaked and streamlined to create a far better movie.

Hereditary is absolutely terrifying, and I had to cut the watching in two parts as I could not face the tension when mid point comes. The acting by Toni Colette and Alex Wolff is outstanding, and I wish we saw more of the remarkable Milly Shapiro. I heard that horror fans are sometimes not so impressed by this film, and I'm not sure why. I myself am not impressed by most slashers, and hate "torture movies". But this is a gem, and I recommend it to anyone who is not planning to sleep well tonight.

Great horror movie which does not need to use cheap jumpscares for easy spooks.

A clever mix of supernatural and psychological horror with a supurb cast and ambiguous moments.
