Hevn: Revenge

"Revenge" is confidently paced and well balanced between suspense and local color.

Little more than a genre exercise that rehashes a wealth of revenge-movie themes and tropes.

Kjersti Steinsbø's adaptation wisely spends time building tension and apprehension, and the rising sense of something awful and imminent.

Revenge starts strong, fueled by the intense draw of the unknown. Yet as more and more is revealed, the film runs out of steam, crashing to a less-than-satisfying conclusion.

Echoes of films like Fatal Attraction and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle add texture, but this is a freak-out with its own nasty gut punch.

Compulsively watchable.

Hevn remains a watchable time-waster. Jrgensen is particularly good.
