If you grew up even with a shred of what happened to the characters in this movie, it hits home. This movie tells the truth of what happens to some, deep in the Rust Belt, and for the most part people don't like the truth. Other than the bad reviews mostly written by those with political motivation (as easily researched on X by reviewers political post) it's a wonderful look into lives people can't even begin to understand

Garbage. The whole thing. I think I strained my eyes from rolling them. It's cringey how bad it is.

This is such a great movie! Honestly never cried so much, you can really feel the emotion in the acting. Amy Adam's did a fantastic job!

I really have to admit that I wasn't ready for this movie to be this good. There has to be some weird vacuum of critic rating or it's political. I remember 4 years ago this movie was being touted as almost a masterpiece and now it's suddenly the worst. I watched it objectively and can't believe how much I felt into it. The acting and the direction and production was just amazing. I really felt this movie. It was like I was living out what I was watching. This is how movies should make you feel imo.

Amazing and inspiring true story of the VP life. MUST SEE

Curious, how do "professional" movie critics actually make money? They're always wrong and distasteful. Like who's paying them? Better question: who hired them?

While I think some of the potential punch of this movie is lost because of its constant “time- frame” changing, it is still an immensely impactful story. Some complain that it simply relies on stereotypes, however the book contains significant analysis that makes clear the purpose of the book is not to perpetuate the hillbilly stereotype, but rather to help determine the causes behind the pockets throughout the country which have lagged in education, jobs, and economic stability. But the movie is not meant to be a documentary and so almost all of that analysis has been lost. The movie is very good. The book is a great “must read”.

Great movie! Very inspiring to see how someone born into such a hard position can be brought up into someone so successful

This movie is gubbins. Trope after trope without any real depth of feeling. Dire fare and only fit for a Netflix and be ill sesh. Don't bother.
