This movie starts off with a nuclear bomb being detonated, except it's not a nuclear bomb. It's a regular bomb packed with radioactive material which makes it a dirty bomb. A device like this needs to be detonated in a dense urban area, not off shore like they did. This is what an apocalypse would look like for someone with rose coloured glasses. The story, characters, and dialog are all forgettable.

Good clean entertainment for the family. Proud of Angel Studios for investing in content we can watch without worrying about inappropriate language/scenes!

great movie, nots just typical blood and guts post apocalyptic movie. It makes you think about situations, more nuanced than typical survival horror/dystopian sci fi. Based on a book series. I think you will appreciate this if you like this genre. It's a creative, tense at times and a little out of the box look on the breakdown of society, with a sprinkling of faith and hope as well!

This was absolutely awful and the scriptwriters/director need better people telling them what it's like to live on a farm/ homestead or even to grow a garden. There were so many glaring plot holes I can only imagine how bad the "series" will be. The only slightly redeeming quality was the portrayal of ethical dilemma, but that ended weakly using religion to solve a trolley problem in an unrealistic manner.

Homestead is hands down the best movie I’ve ever watched. From start to finish, it had me completely hooked, every moment being packed with tension, emotion, and edge-of-your-seat thrills. It’s not just a movie, it’s an experience. The set design is absolutely stunning. The post-apocalyptic setting feels raw and real, with every detail pulling you deeper into the world. You can feel the isolation of the Homestead, the looming threat outside, and the crumbling society around it. The visuals are gritty and immersive, perfectly capturing the chaos of a world on the brink. The actors knock it out of the park. Neal McDonough, Bailey Chase, and Dawn Olivieri deliver powerhouse performances. You believe every emotion, every decision, every ounce of fear and strength they portray. The chemistry between the cast is intense and authentic, it makes the stakes feel even higher. The story is what truly blew me away. It’s thrilling and nail-biting from the very first scene. The moral dilemmas, the survival choices, the internal conflicts WOW it’s all so well-crafted. There’s heart, there’s darkness, there’s hope, and it all hits hard. I was on edge the whole time, and I didn’t want it to end. If you’re looking for a movie that pulls you in, makes you think, and keeps your adrenaline pumping, Homestead is it. Easily a 10/10. Can’t wait for future episodes!!!!

I know movies are never as good as the book, but this one was quite a bit different. The book was set in Salt Lake City just outside the mormon area. The hunter that got shot was not by Erickson's son. And the hunter was the one Mormon guy who could hunt and yes, it was a big mistake. And they weren't attacked by city officials but a gang of Mexicans and some Islanders they joined up with. The scene that Ian got shot was weak and not at all true to the book And the girl with psychic abilities...they said was prophecy... not at all what prophecy is... I just realized that angel studios is a Mormon company, so that may explain moving away from that story line. All in all ..it was ok, but very disappointed as it could have been great. We'll see how the series goes.

If you've read the books forget 96% of them this is almost nothing like the first few books granted this is a movie leading into a show guess it should be considered a pilot episode, its not a terrible movie ill watch it again just was more of a let down with the prepping and every aspect I watched the movie for. **Spoilers **You can sum the movie up as a Nuke goes off maybe 80 people go to some preppers ranch and there's a maybe 30 hungry people outside his front gate the entire time while a small group ex special forces gaurd the ranch perimeter and have faith also someone is maybe a prophet or has visions or something. Hopefully the series recovers the start I still have high hopes and super enjoy the main characters.

Big swing and a miss with the emotional connection. Storyline was just super contrived and had horrible flow. I really wanted to like this.

I wish I could give a better review. it was fine family viewing, but it was not true to life, at all. They concluded that food would last as long as they ran the place with love, rather than violence. Love doesn't produce meat or grains. I remember watching at the end and thinking of the lessons of history Most of the residents of Jamestown died, because they didn't realize that wheat wouldn't grow there well, and there were people who saw them as a threat to their way of life. Unfortunately, love has to be accompanied by protection of that which is precious and good planning. If you don't have all three, you are going to struggle.

This picture was finely crafted and quite beautifully executed it was clear and concise with the message that was being delivered by both telling a good story and putting forth a good narrative I really enjoyed it.
